Both Sides Now ~ Joni Mitchell

    Hangin' round downtown by myself
And I had so much time
To sit and think about myself
    And then there she was
    Like double cherry pie
    Yeah there she was
    Like disco superfly
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Is that Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground? And I thought you were cool.

That reminds me of this little gem of a song:

My lifestyle's wild I was living like a wild child
Trapped on a short leash paroled the police files
So yo. what' s happening now?
I see the sun breaking down into dark clouds
and a vision of you standing out in a crowd.

    Come come my lady
    you're my butterfly
    Sugar.baby
    come my lady you're my
pretty baby ill make your legs shake
    you make me go crazy
"...if you weren't smart enough to get a pedophile in a dress to put a small amount of water on the child’s forehead, then what the eff did you think was going to happen?

Ahhh, are you saying Sex and Candy isn't cool? I love that song, it's one of those songs that's just so ridiculous it's charming.

And that song is Butterfly by Crazy Town...is it bad that I knew it right away? Does it help that I had to look up the artist? Do I still have any street cred left? If it helps at all, I don't actually like the song, I just, for some strange reason, knew it.

    My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
    I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

River of Deceipt - Mad Season

And I know I am not cool ~ I have to google practically everything!

And yeah, that Marcy Playground song is pretty decent except for the fact that it was so overplayed and that detracted from it's overall coolness (as was the butterfly sugar baby song --- I guess that's why I associate the two. But the butterfly song is ridiculous, not cool. Maybe it was goodthe first time you heard it, but really, it's just silly!)

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man,
You win some, lose some, all the same to me,
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say,
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I had to google this one:

    Ace of Spades ~ Motorhead.

    If you were a pill
I'd take a handful at my will
And I'd knock you back with something sweet and strong
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Valentine - Replacements

    Where is the ritual
And tell me where where is the taste
    Where is the sacrifice
And tell me where where is the faith
Someday there'll be a cure for pain
That's the day I throw my drugs away

Cure for Pain ~ Elvezio Sciallis (Googled artist)

I was coming to the end of a long long walk
When a man crawled out of a cardboard box
    Under the E. Street Bridge
    Followed me on to it
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

    Moments by Emerson drive

I took her home to my place
Watching every move on her face
She said look what's your game
Are you trying to put me in shame
I said slow don't talk so fast
Don't you think that love can last
    She said love Lord above
Now you're tryin' to trick me in love

    Rod Stewart - Alright Now

    Somewhere theres a river
    Looking for a stream
    Somewhere theres a dreamer
    Looking for a dream
    Somewhere theres a drifter
    Trying to find his way
    Somewhere someones waiting
    To hear somebody say
    ......
    Somewhere theres an angel
    Trying to earn his wings
    Somewhere theres a silent voice
    Learning how to sing
Some of us cant move ahead
    Were paralyzed with fear
    And everybodys listening
cause we all need to hear
My hide hides the heart inside

'Dole that's Amanda Marshall - Believe In You

Sweet mother, she sang in the Sunday choir
On her head was a halo, she spoke brimstone and fire
Daddy lived by the bottle, Daddy died by the barn
Well, he froze one night, Mama said "Serves him right"
"The devil can keep him warm"
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

It's either called Departure or Old Fashioned Love (sorry, the song title wasn't clear when I googled )

Runnin' from the cold up in New England
I was born to be a fiddler in an old-time stringband
    My baby plays the guitar
    I pick a banjo now

Oh, the North country winters keep a gettin' me now
Lost my money playin' poker so I had to up and leave
    But I ain't a turnin' back
To livin' that old life no more

Actually, neither: Cain's Blood by 4 Runner

    Yours is: Against Me—Wagon Wheel

I've said your name in vain before
I've let the Devil drive my ford
Read "Jesus saves" on a bathroom door
    Just before I passed out
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way

One More Believer ~ Bobby Pinson (googled)

Hey Jack, now for the tricky part
When you were the brightest star
    Who were the shadows?
Of the San Francisco beat boys
    You were the favourite
Now they sit and rattle their bones
And think of their blood stoned days
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Hey Jack Kerouak - 10000 Maniacs
I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try to laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
