    A Lodging for the Night

I finished reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde yesterday and went on to the shorter stories also included in the volume. Among them was "A Lodging for the Night." I was wondering if anyone has read this story and would care to discuss it, I was left feeling like the story was a little vague.

So I am just curious if anyone else has read it and cares to discuss.

    Francis Villon

The tale you refer to is extracted from The New Arabian Nights, and as you have yourself stated, it is a vague one - not unlike many others by Stevenson. Perhaps the only good lines are those when Francis and the old veteran of the army discuss about each´s fate. Overall a dim and aimless story save for that very dialogue towards the end.

I would like to discuss it. When I read it the first time I also didn't know what to think about it. But now I've listened to an audio version a couple of times and think it's a great story.
