I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

Nice to hear some clarinet playing, here's some more.

I also like this comment from one of the listeners. It says it all.
'People actually playing real instruments. What will they think of next?'
"L'art de la statistique est de tirer des conclusions erronèes a partir de chiffres exacts." Napoléon Bonaparte.
"Je crois que beaucoup de gens sont dans cet état d’esprit: au fond, ils ne sentent pas concernés par l’Histoire. Mais pourtant, de temps à autre, l’Histoire pose sa main sur eux." Michel Houellebecq.
hehe, well actually my Rocco was posted in jest at Pendragon's expense.
Ah yes, well with Artie, it leaves no doubt to ability and class.
Artie is at, or certainly near, the top of my list in terms of the big band era greats.
Emil, here's someone you might be familiar with and appreciate.
I read in the news yesterday about the passing of Eydie Gormé. The name had a vague familiar ring to it, but it wasn't until I played the song below, that I recalled a voice I knew from background of my youth.

I don't think I ever heard her although I had heard of her. She was probably bigger in the US than in the UK but I do remember seeing record covers of hers during the period just before and after the proverbial hit the fan in the 1960s.
Her passing was mentioned on the BBC news yesterday but, given that Freddie of the Dreamers also got an obituary a few years ago, I don't know how significant that is.
Here's another from the days when music required more than publicity and the mass mentality.

Let's add some strings and make it a concerto

Great playing but calling it a concerto is stretching it a bit.
Now here's another genuine musician who was a hero of my misspent youth when I used to go to dances at which he and his band sometimes played Watching this brings it all back: the girls, the beer and the music. This was one of their favourites and boy could they play.

I think this may be my favorite R.E.M song. It's either this or King of Birds, it depends on what I listened to last.![]()
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
but weighty and unmovable
As black Dakota hills. ~ Riesa
