You'll see some of it in the following days on this very thread, if that would be of interest

Your cat eye is beautiful, Varenne! Is it going to be part of something larger or is it the thing itself-which is fine, I was just curious. I would love to see how you arrived at this, if you care to share.

Thank you, Tony! Haha. You must be some kind of werewolf if your eyes look like that ever. Still, I believe you.

Thank you, Max! I hope you will get a tablet sometime. It was still an adjustment over drawing with a real pencil on real paper, but it is somewhat freeing. Best of both worlds and stuff. Now that I'm getting the hang of it, I am loving it so much!

I can't wait to see your new projects!

Thank you, Qimi! This is the finished item for now. I was just practicing technique on my tablet. I painted people eyes and mouths and noses and backgrounds all day that day. I really need to work on backgrounds. It's a big struggle for me. Once I master those, I think I might be going places.

I learned how to make these eyes from pictures I found online myself, so again, not taking credit for this process at all. I wish I had links to the originals, but I either forgot to bookmark them, or they are lost in my vast sea of a billion bookmarks. If anyone ever comes across the artist who teaches this method, feel free to share that info here so they can have credit. Anyway, here's my step by step: (sorry about the gaps. sometimes I didn't save)

    The beginning eye. So ugly...

Here I was working in a second layer, separate from the border of the eye and the pupil. If you're not familiar with layering, it's much easier than it seems at first. I suggest searching for some layering tutorials. I added in some browns, grays, greens and a touch of yellow. It's messy, but a lot of it drops down underneath the border of the eye when I merge layers later. The opacity I worked in here was about 8%-12%. That's super transparent. I wanted all of the color to come through. More color is good in realism. An eye is not simply green, blue, brown, or hazel. It's lots of stuff, especially in a cat's eye. I highly suggest three colors MINIMUM. Even three will look cartoony. More is better. The colors can also be wildly different from each other. I tend to avoid stuff like gray + gray-blue + blue.

I softened that layer with a gaussian blur, then I went nuts scribbling color all over. Lots of purple, green, red, magenta, maroon, gray, more yellow, and I just started to add some super light bits and dots of white here and there to hint at highlights. I kind of worked my way around in a circular pattern, with the lines coming out from the eye. Not a lot of straight lines. Mainly curves and squiggles.

In the next step I merged the layers so that the pupil would be on top. I added more pale white glow around the iris. More purple scribbles, especially around the edges. Some of them kind of look like water waves. I added pink around where the highlights would be. You barely notice the pink later, but it makes a huge difference. On top of that I put bold white chunks and scrapes and scratchy scribbles. It looks terribly messy. It doesn't require much control. Somehow it works. The top highlights of white are not transparent at all. They are at full opacity.

In this step I have started to scribble fur in, using my dropper tool to pick up the colors. Trying to get rid of my original fat basic paint lines. I start with black, darkening up the maroon and the purple border of the eye. It's important to darken up that light purple triangle, leaving some areas for highlights.

More of the same. Adding reddish brown fur...

Then white fur. In this next step there is purple in the lower corner of the eye, with transparent light white on top of that, and bold white on top of that. Little water lines.

Lastly, my eye had lost a bit of its shape, so I took some black and smoothed out the iris around the edges, making it more circular, but not nearly perfectly circular. Eyes are muscular and not symmetrical.

I hope this made any kind of sense and wasn't too rambly! Thanks for your patience, everybody!

Oh, and the entire process took 4-6 hours. With practice, I think it will be faster.

Hehe. Thank you, Max! You're such a sweetie! You have to post something soon or I will start to think I'm taking up way too much space in this thread!

Revolte, this is cool! I'm always expecting covers to be horrible, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love this song as sung by Gary Jules. I was worried it would be a mediocre copy of that, but it's different without butchering any part of it. Very nice!

In an attempt to make progress on what may hopefully become, someday, my first sci-fi epic, I've designed the logo for my aerospace company, which I've dubbed CMG Air and Space Industries (probably the Latin motto should be in a more futuristic font, too, but I'm not really sure about it):

And follow three scenes that comprise a prequel to the main story, with their corresponding basic textual explanations:

I've been working on a few more things related to this, and it's been probably around a year designing both friend and foe aircraft, although intermittently because of my school obligations that leave me with little time to follow a hobby. Later on I'll post a bit more, if considered to carry any meaning or appeal.
