Hope someone can help - new here

Hi everyone. I hope I'm posting this in the correct place and that someone may be able to help. I have a GCSE English assessment due in a few days and I'm stuck on a certain part of it. I don't know if I'm over thinking it but I just can't get my head around it.

The question is:
Explain and evaluate the way Orwell represents the conflict of the battle of the cowshed by using structual and language techniques, such as powerful verbs, adjectives, adverbs, narrative viewpoint, sentence structure and figurative language. You must include some quotes form the book and if possible try and compare and contrast it to the film version of animal farm (1999)

I'm doing the same English course as you (I assume, although we're studying a different novel), and the question you asked is the entire essay, not just one part.

Hi thanks for replying. Yes your right the question I asked is one part of the whole essay, the essay question is: Explore the ways George Orwell presents conflict in Animal Farm by reffering to at least 4 episodes from the book.

I have picked the battle of the cowshed for my first episode, what I'm struggling to get my head around is how to start it off (I have already written my introduction to the book and demonstrated my understanding of Orwell's idea's on the allegorical meaning of Animal Farm), how to use the figurative language, how to get the powerful verbs in and the sentence structure.

I'm not asking for the answer to be written for me but some idea's maybe on how to start it off, what kind of quotes to use. I have so many things going round in my head I just have no idea where to start with it. I'm hoping that once I have this one down the other 3 should just flow.

Now, this may or may not come off as douchey, if it does, then too bad.

The simple fact that your account name is 'englishgcse' tells me you're not planning on sticking around long, you're just looking for somebody to give you the answer to your assessment. Laziness is not a virtue, and Animal Farm isn't exactly the hardest book to analyze. Try starting your coursework more than a few days before it's due, and perhaps listen in class from time to time. If you're really too lazy/ignorant to actually study the book, then just go on bloody SparkNotes rather than wasting other people's time.

I am infact looking to stick around, englishgcse is a name I use on any forum I go on, one I can easily remember. I haven't come across any rules saying I must use my real name. I have read the book and do actually listen in class. The reason I am looking for a little advice is due to the fact I have missed a few lessons due to the recent birth of my child (i'm 29 by the way not a teenager) but hey at least I'm carrying on with the course and not giving up just because I had a baby 3 weeks ago!

Well congratulations. If that is the case, then I apologize for my somewhat blunt reply, although I'm still not going to help.

Based on what you've written, the best way to "start off" is with what you already have. Take your introduction - Orwell's symbolism and language - and apply it to the specific episode:

Start by exploring the key conflict in the battle of the cowshed (no more than one sentence on this) and dive in - with as specific references as you can - to how the conflict is developed through Orwell's use of language (how does Orwell's writing inhance the actual content) and how the battle ties in with both the central conflict of the book and the what the books symbolically represents.
