The answer to your problem, Qimissung, is you need a new puppy or kitten.
I understand, my mother felt that way about me moving out. I just reassured her that I would still visit A LOT. They only live a few minutes away. So I would suggest that, although you can unfortunately not spend Thanksgiving with your son, you can always have a family-only type day or evening when he comes back. That way you still get some quality time together.

Hmm, I'd do something that you can't do when the kids are around. For example, get really, really drunk.
