Favourite TV shows?

Game of Thrones, South Park, Family Guy, Workaholics, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Wheel of Fortune. Was a fan of Fringe, but not anymore.

I used to enjoy a show in the 80's called the "Equalizer" about a british man who helped people for a living. Did anybody else watch it?

Hoarders and Intervention on A&E. I love watching all the things people "collect". And watching druggies forced to get help is kinda sad but it is entertaining.

I tivo and watch about half of these shows on demand and as you can see I drive my boyfriend batty!

- Ghost Hunters (the show with The Atlantic Paranormal Society) which is broadcasted on Sky Livingit in the UK I won't be able to watch this soon though because I'm moving into my university halls tomorrow and won't have a TV!

- Casualty (which is shown on BBC1 so I can catch it on iPlayer)

- Downton Abbey (new series begins next Sunday!)


I don't watch too much TV, to be honest. I'm more of a movies person.

This was a great show; no idea why they did not carry on.

I watch sitcoms mostly; "Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" are favorites these days whenever I can manage to catch some TV.

Also liked "Coupling", "Office" (USA), "Spartacus", CSI (Original) and "Eureka"... And still watch the reruns of Frasier if come across.

Plus all the ideas they had planned for season 2 were amazing. But at least the end of the show led to Undeclared which was great in its own right. But couldn't reach the heights of F&G.

I am not familiar with "Undeclared" at all.

Wonder if it made to this side of the pond...

Plenty of respect for Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared, two uncommonly good series. And even consider Firefly, a heck of a show that one was. Louie, in terms of what's on TV right now, is untouchable.

There was a Canadian show called Slings and Arrows that featured a younger Rachel Adams. The season arcs were based on the Shakespeare plays that the theater company in the series was performing. This show was a literary feast, funny, and downright entertaining! Top five for sure.

But in terms of incredible television, there are, for this viewer, two shows.

Take a trip back to the years 1988-1993. Yes, you know the show...

The Wonder Years.

That was some phenomenal television right there. This viewer had to catch it later on as it started before he was born. You still have the hots for Winnie Cooper, admit it. At its best, the ingenuity of the storytelling, the use of device, etc. makes it hard to believe that this series was made in the 80's. For its worst episodes, it's an above average comedy-drama. Some of it's storytelling techniques were ahead of its time; others, now neglected or overlooked, would benefit many of the shows on television today.

The second show is hard to even sensibly talk about.

The Decalogue.

It's a polish TV show that has some recognition in English speaking countries. Each one of the ten episodes is about one of the ten commandments but this is not a religious offering. It's more a metaethical discussion with storylines and arcs that will haunt you long after you watch it. And it can be painful, even if you're agnostic/atheist, to see a presentation of an either silent or non-existent god, on a purely human level.

EDIT: Also, Masterpiece Theater did a show called Any Human Heart that comes to mind when thinking of exceptional television.

Ah, TV. When it's bad, it's the worst. When it's average, it's still pretty damn bad. But when it's good, oh man, it reaffirms itself as a cultural cornerstone and affects people in a meaningful, artistic way.
