Well I'm ready. I've got the book. I've nearly finished the one I'm on. Things are hotting up for Fahrenheit 451!

Hmmm, what to do, what to do? Throw in a vote for Fahrenheit 451, a book I've already read but could read again, and all but guarantee its place as the winner? Or give a vote to Oryx and Crake, a book I've never read by an author I've been meaning to read for quite some time, and take away Fahrenheit 451's cushy lead? Choice, choices. . . .

Oryx and Crake and Memoirs of a Survivor are the only ones I haven't read. I like Atwood though, so I'll put a vote in for O and C.

Oh, man, I'm sorry Paul, but I just can't pass an opportunity to throw a wrench in the cogs like this. It's a chance a ****-starter doesn't get often. IT'S A TIE!

Though I would be willing to read Fahrenheit 451 having heard so much about it. I for one will not be sorry if Oryx and Crake wins. I love Atwood and haven't read this one of her's yet. Plus it has the advantage of being a book I already own.

No worries. I can't influence others' choices for my convenience. I'll try to get a copy of Oryx and Crake. I've not read any Atwood either, and so it's really a win win for me.

Paul, if Oryx and Crake wins I won't be reading it - not that it's not a good book, actually it's a very enjoyable book and I liked it very much - but it's a bit long and would interfere too much with me getting through the million-odd other books I've still got to read. The advantage to Fahrenheit 451 is that it's short!

If it wins, if you PM me your address I'd happily lend you my copy.

In the event that it doesn't win, if anyone still wants to read it the Guardian Book club are reading Fahrenheit 451 as their inaugural read. Starts 5th September.

Yet another tie... Please vote and break the tie before I have to make a choice and impose my own choice on everyone!

You know those books that you have always meant to read but something always came up and supplanted it...and you continuously feel bad for not having read this book....that's Fahrenheit 451 for me....so I shall jump into the fray and end this tragedy in my life.

I'm kind of glad. With grad school, I don't have much time for longer books.
