Emil, your Milly is so gracious like a princess and your neighbor's cat is so masculine. Are they good friends?

OrphanPip, it's never too late to post some pictures. What're the names of your pets? What're their names? Is your kitty Abyssinian? He or she is soooo cute!

This is from when our beloved Smeagol was still with us. That gray lump towards the back is my son, Isaac. He always shared his tiny twin bed with both dogs, now he only has to share with Dobby.

the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Hi Olga,

Milly is getting used to Tabby but only because I reprimand her when she tries to attack him. Whenever he comes into the garden or the house I give him something to eat even though he is well cared for by his owners.

The rabbit is Hazel, she is a mix between a standard rex and a Dutch lop. She was a rescue.

The cat is Casey, and he is a red tabby oriental short-hair. I got him through a breeder at work.

The dog was named Xena, but she died recently from complications due to cancer. The rat was another rescue, she was named Squiggle (she came with the name), but she had persistent pneumonia and eventually succumbed to it. I don't keep rats anymore because they are so short lived that it is a little difficult.

I agree. If woman is God's gift to man, then cats are God's gift to both of them.

Haha, I'll tell our Prunelle. Her mother Emma will be envious and so will her uncle Baldrick, both our other cats.

Prunelle's the only of our cats who fancies herself a bird, though...

She looked at the bread the other day and tried it too, sitting on the roof of that bird house...

And before you ask, Prunelle was called after the Belgian alcohol (a little like Amaretto, but of plums, therefore Prunelle), Emma just like that because we liked it and Baldrick after the comedy character. He couldn't jump you see, and always had to scramble up the window sill with his back paws when he was still small. Years later we discovered he had a problem with his hip when he was born, so couldn't put a lot of strength on one. It seems to have been solved now, though.

Actually our cats are part of a dynasty which is always called after alcohol. There was a Batida, a Pernot, a Smirnoff, there is another Prunelle we gave away and a Chiraz (after the grape), both chilren from our Emma.

And then, there is a daughter of our Emma and sister of our Prunelle, who is called... Gattovenaqui... You see, we had called her Edna after the Blackadder joke ('the other one') because she had to stay slightly longer than the rest before she could go to Spanish friends of ours. As she and our Prunelle were part of the same nest, they both did the same mischief and had to be somewhat contained... Prunelle we chose because, even so small, she used to come and sit with us when we were eating on my husband's knee. It was like she insisteed 'I want to be part of you guys!' So we used to call the other little cat 'the other one' but that really doesn't shout well if they are eating the plants... So I called her Edna for ease after Blackadder. And then, the other family decided they were going to think of a name. Nefertiti was in the running (nice!), but the cat started to answer to what they called at first in Spanish if they wanted her to come: 'Cat, come here.' And now she answers to the Spanish for 'cat, come here'. 'Cat' for short.

    @Dansbird:
That's a very cute Jack Russel, by the way (it is one isn't it?)

Kiki I think that all your cats are gorgeous, actually all cats are, ancient Egyptians knew something. It's funny to choose names for pets, it took a couple of moths to find a name for my cat Panteleimonas, also it wasn't easy to find out the name for my youngest cat Boris and the oldest one Jacob.
What's for alcohol, one of my daughter's cats is called Jim-Beam.
Isn't cat in Spanish gata or gato?
Thank you for introducing your cat's dynasty, can't wait for you to post some pictures of them.
