    Find your dream and stick with it...or your life will have slipped past in a whisper with you still on the bottom.

    Senioritis is really beginning to kick in. At least we're all done with tests in calc!

    There is an appealing mesmerism in the waters of the IPA alphabet, and in the siren-like chants emanating from its enchanted symbols

    What book shall I read...? Nothing on my shelf is capturing my fancy. Keep picking them up and putting them down again.
    "...You are not wrong, who deem
    That my days have been a dream;
    Yet if hope has flown away
    In a night, or in a day,
    In a vision, or in none,
    Is it therefore the less gone?..." E. A. Poe

    My nieces like to "borrow" my sister's cell phone and send me texts. Here's a chat I just had with my 9 year old niece Emma:

    Emma: How are you doing?

    Me: I'm a little hungry

    Emma: So get something to eat!!!

    Me: Nothing is ever that easy when you're in the Army, Emma

    Emma: Oh.

    Me: I have to find someone else who also wants to get something to eat because we're not allowed to go by ourselves.

    Emma: Um...I don't know what to say to that.

    Me: Can I tell you a secret, Emma?

    Emma: Yes.

    Me: The Army's stupid.

    Emma: I'm going to tell them you said that.

    1) Dude! I'm telling them too.
    2) They don't trust you to eat by yourself? Is this just a Basil rule or does it apply to all army people?

    There are not good teachers and bad teachers. Just those who get respect and those who do not.
    For I have known them all already, known them all:
    Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
    I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
    I know the voices dying with a dying fall
    Beneath the music from a farther room.

    So how should I presume?
    Eliot

    Ah. Words to like hurt, bruise, and make a mess of things, but I think it's the actions that cut cleanly and deeply, so that sometimes, one never heals from it...
