    Book Club Proposals

The Book Club, which has been active since 2004, has so far read the books nominated individually and randomly. I was wondering if we could change things a little to bring in variety in 2006. Some ideas:

    1. Author of the month: We could decide on 12 authors before hand and each month we would vote to choose a book written by one particular author. E.g. In January only we include only Camus' works in the poll and read one of those in February.

    2. Genre of the month: We could decide on different genres and nominate/vote for books belonging that particular genre each month. E.g., March: Month of Sci-fi so only sci-fi books will be nominated for that month.

    3. Country of the month: We could decide on 12 countries and each month read books from that particular country's literature. The works nominated would not be too obscure (maybe only those which are available in English on Amazon maybe?)

Any other suggestions or thoughts on these suggestions are welcome! Once we have some ideas to consider, there will be a poll to decide which plan to follow in 2006.

    Thank you!

I really think the author idea is great. It would give us a chance to read authors we have never read. I would like that.

I think that would be a little confusing for all of us, especially those who join the Forum later on.

I think as well... from time to time anyway

If more than one option is too much I'd go for author of the month.

Soon we will have a poll to see which option proves more popular (one of the above, what we have now or something else which might be nominated meanwhile) and then we will start the new scheme in 2006.

Koa, maybe if the country of the month is chosen, you would be more active in the Book Club too!

    Mission accomplished!

*note to self: Keep creating polls to create an illusion of democracy and 'Hey, my opinion counts!' psychology*

*wonders which case Jay is ducking in* Is that a suitcase, briefcase, pillowcase or a wine case???

I like the author idea or perhaps we could have 12 time periods (Victorian, Ancient, etc.)
