Lover of Buddhism and great authors - eclectic

I'm a lover of literature. Often its about Buddhism, learning as the Dalai Lama said to "be happy." I am taking a course now: "Awakening Joy," which is all about inclining your mind to a state of well-being, joy, happiness or whatever you want to call that great feeling of love and joy that comes over you when you are gazing at the water while sitting on the beach, walking with you dog down a quiet street in winter, streching into downward facing dog and balancing in tree pose, enjoying a bowl of sweet potato soup by the fire with family, and in sum, enjoying the richness life offers if we are present enough to experience it that way and remember that feeling.

Hi, I am majoring in English; I love the subject, poetry, literature, etc., but I am not the traditional English scholar. I am a military veteran. So forgive me for feeling a bit intimidated here.

I am also an English major. Where are you attending school?

    Red face Hello.

My name is Alisson and I joined this forum because I would love to get some critics on my writing since my family and friends do not care whatsoever about poetry, which makes them the least supportive or helpful critics. I would accept bad and good critics as long as they're honest and constructive because I am here looking to improve and become better. Also, I want to come in touch with more people that can actually see the real beauty behind writing and its importance not only for the individual's sanity but also for the soul, mind and heart itself.
Hope you have a wonderful evening.
    AMAD.

I am Saeran. I am not much for talking about myself so I will keep this short. I am a teacher and my favorite age of students are 10 and 11 year old children. My favorite subjects to teach are science and writing. I personally love to read, write and draw. I have only begun writing in the past two years and it consumes me once I start a story. I am excited about meeting others here, reading their stories and getting feedback on mine.

Hello everyone! I found this forum and thought it would be a great fit for me. I love to read, but unfortunately being in school makes time hard to find. I'm looking forward to getting some great recommendations from you all!

Hey guys! I'm in high school and am just beginning to realize how much I adore literature. I decided to come here to talk to people with that same passion. I'm looking forward to some awesome conversations.

I like everything from Dune to Death of a Salesman, Life of Pi to Machiavelli in Hell, Ten Days that Shook the World to Antigone. I love to play the saxophone, and my musical tastes range from Coldplay to Coltrane to Train to Mumford and Sons to the Decemberists. To name a few. I also enjoy Role-Playing Games, whether on the computer or with pencil and paper. I have yet to find a subject I've learned in school that I dislike.

Things I DO dislike: the perpetuation of ignorance, cruelty, stubbornness.

So that's me. As best as I can get it.

Hello, My name is Shila (Shy La) and I am in my mid 30's, single and living in Texas. I enjoy reading almost everything! However my reason for joining this forum was to get some help looking for a book. I have no idea what the name of the book is. Its been over 15 years since i read it and for some reason i have been wanting to re-read it lately. There is a whole store there but that is another post. By lately i mean for at least a couple of years now i have been searching. Because I cant remember the name or the author of the book, it has been a struggle. I am hoping that this is the place where I may get a clue!

I look forward to meeting new personalities while i am here.

    Shila
