Hey. I'm new here. Hoping this will kill the boredom at work when there's no projects to work on
hello everybody, :
every thing has a first time, so this is mine here;
I'm from Algeria , I graduated last year in Letters and Foreign Languages( English) ,
I like reading novels , shortstories, but I'm not fond of poetry, I don't know why ( for instance because I've never dealt with one before ) , English is my third language after Arabic (the first ) and French ( as the second ) .
So this is all for now
Hi everyone! Well, firstly, I don't really know how to make an introduction... words currently fail me at this point of time because I just took a dump and then decided to write an introduction here because I'm so random like that. I'd probably go run a few circles later on, but that's not really relevant here, is it?
So anyway, I'm actually migrating from my previous watering hole (heh heh), but I'm getting impatient with that place because of the lack of intellectual stimulation there. It's flooded with kids and I guess I need to grow up a little.
I enjoy a lot of things, from literature to chemistry; so much so that my list would never be an exhaustive one, so instead, I'd rather list the things I do NOT like, but then again, who the heck is so negative in their first introduction?
I hail from a little sunny island in SouthEast Asia called Singapore. I'm currently 21 at point of writing and I'm working as an operations executive.
I just completed my Diploma in Biotechnology last year and am currently just starting to learn about life.
I've been through a lot in my 21 years; most of them bad experiences, but because of my horrible memory, I live on a day-to-day basis.
I'm ADD/ADHD so I tend to be random and unpredictable.
I enjoy writing, music, poetry, philosophizing and psychology. My dream is to be a psychologist and I'm figuring out a way to become one.
I do hope to learn a lot from the community here because I feel this would be a place I would be able to fit in pretty nicely. I'd love a mental challenge every now and then.
Oh btw, I'm an ENTP Choleric Sanguine.
Nice to meet you all and I do hope to make tons of buddies here!
Peace and God bless!
Hi all...
This is mark. I think this one is the best forum for sharing knowledge..and i am proud to be the part of this discussion.
Hello there and welcome aboard! :D
Hi,
I'm Xutza.I joined this forum because i like reading books, mainly fiction.
Hello!
I’m a new member from Portugal and my first language is as you would expect Portuguese - I hope my English is up to the simple task of being understood…
I read a lot in English – I’m a better reader than a writer! – as much fiction as non-fiction.
I look forward to share ideas and comments about books with you all

Hello, everyone. I joined the forum a week ago, and I love the opportunity it gives to discuss literature and writing. Its nice to read these introductions, both from the new people (like myself) and the ones who have been here for quite some time.
Welcome all!!! And glad you stepped in K.K. to say how much you enjoyed it here already.
Hi, I stumbled upon this site while looking for some ideas on conducting Creative Writing Workshops for kids. Liked what I saw, and registered myself. If anyone has done this sort of thing before, please share your thoughts. I am basically a fiction writer who has published several short stories and have a novel being serialised on a website. As I believe that most children's natural creativity gets stifled as they grow up, I decided to have some workshops in my house for children aged 8 to 10 yrs. Response has been good - M.
Hi everyone, I am super excited to find this site! I don't know anybody else that actually likes reading books, diregarding chick-lit (does that make anybody else giggle?), in real life.
I have set myself the task of tackling 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and I want to get more out of the books than just ploughing through them and ticking them off my list.
I am currently working at a wildlife park where I look after the koalas, my day revolves around satisfying the little beasts and trying to stop them from climbing up my leg.
I had been enrolled at uni completing a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Animal Science, but have decided to switch to my other love and applied for a BA majoring in English and Creative Arts. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with any of it, I'm more interested in pleasing myself and then worrying about consequences.
My favourite books: The Last of the Mohicans, Watership Down, The Virgin Suicides, The Magic Faraway Tree :D, The Lord of the Rings ummmm... That's all I can think of for now.
Currently reading: The Picture of Dorian Gray
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!
P.S. I dig music
well, i love reading so i decided to join the forum. have browsed it on and off for the past few years. i guess i'm the odd one out because i'm not doing lit at uni, and didn't even go to uni.
big fan of james joyce and kurt vonnegut, among plenty of others.
can any one tell me how to beautify my profile. how to put picture under my user name? or how to put signature text?
actually i'm not that fun-to-be-with person.
i'm a timid type.
i usually spend the day myself.
i love reading books ( that's why i joined this forum)
i talk less
i don't like to talk non sense things
i love doing things my own
i don't consider people around me as my friend
i'm afraid of heights
i don't know how to swim
and most of all i'm not that intelligent
So . . . what can you say about me?
Hope these threads help, Rossette:

Welcome to the Forum :)
Hihi! Here I am, new to this forum! I love books. Give me a book and I'll read it, for sure!
I was always the book beast, sitting against the wall all by myself, escaping into any book that I could get my little hands on! Teachers would scorn me, take my books away! But I'd always sneak them. I'm able to control my book-reading urges now.. Just barely! I have a problem! Bahaha. I'm probably far too broad-minded when it comes to books, not like my dear book beauty!
Oh yeah, and here's my guy, BookBeauty, to tell you all about his deepest passions in the world of literature. Or maybe just to say Hello. :D
*Waves* Hey there!
hi! i still have troubles putting picture under my user name. i've tried so many times but still it always appeared to be invalid.
Check the size of the picture. It may be too large.
Hello everyone.
I recently stumbled across the forum and thought I'd register and chip in from time to time. Currently reading (and loving) Midnight's Children, and am looking forward to many a recommendation from you all on here!
Joined yesterday, made a few posts.. Hello, people.:)
What do I read?.. I'm probably different from many people here because actually, I'm getting bad about reading. Nothing seems that interesting to me and I have a habit of starting one book after another until I've got several unfinished books. So perhaps I joined in some hope that being around people who love books and reading would motivate me to read more. I don't seem to have as much patience for books anymore and my eyes get sleepy reading the words sometimes. I want to enjoy reading books more like other people do, but I guess I'm becoming more of a picky reader.
Anyway, hello and I hope I enjoy this place..Thanks.
Hi!
I found here when I was searching for criticism of Jane Eyre.
The website is great. I'm so excited about being a member of it.
Are you using a hosting site? I recommend Photobucket. It is so easy to upload to there and you can keep your photos in categories. Name a file before you do upload to it because once you post the URL in here it will not be here should you move that file. You have to use the [IMG] formating in the hosting site - you just copy that one out and past right in the body of this text box. Any problems, let me know.
Welcome to all newbies! Wow, we have had a flood of new people lately - great to see it!:D
Hi everyone, I am new at this sort of thing so please don't be offended if I start by asking for some help. I am a bit of a hoarder and have collected all sorts of things over the years, coins, banknotes & books. I started to do a spring clean the other day (even though we are going into winter) and I found a 1st edition 1923 of DH Lawrece's Kangaroo. I have begun to read it but took time out to try and find out a bit more about this book - but I can't seem to find out very much, can anybody help?
Good evening, this being my first few minutes on this site, I am taking it easy with the introductory speech. So perhaps bullitans are going to be more usefull.
1. I was born near a family reservation in NC, and since have moved over 50 times. I have lived up in the mountains,as well on two islands, bundled up in cold weather, and stripped in the tropics, lived in large houses and resided in small appartments.
2. I come from a military family, background being mostly Cherokee but with Russian, and some other euro trash thrown in.
3. The only family in which I speak with is my father/mother who lives his days in Malawi.
4. I have worked at an elementary school as a librarian, a hospital as an Occupational Therapist, a outdoor theater as an actor, an international center as a foreign diplomat, a Cuban restaurant as a server, a Microbrewery, a natural foodstore, and massage therapy.
5. I am a walking oxymoron, I have no idea what my path in life is, I enjoy random events randomly, and let's see...... I am easily amused, rarely awed.
Hello friends! I of course, am new. I just came to seek a little bit of feedback on the opening section of my 'book' (If you could call it that.) I just happened to have an idea that I figured would make a good book, so I put it on paper! =]
Anyways, I am very excited to be a part of this community. Thanks guys!
Hi everyone - I am a writer - a song writer - Looking forward to sharing -

Kerouac is my favourate writer.
Hi everybody, I found this when I was searching for the book persuasion. It's a great forum. I am from China, and just started reading a few books when I felt the need for it at the age of late 20's. Feeling ashamed......
Hi,
My name is JerryO. I've never done this before and am not sure, by replying to a thread (these are new terms for me), I'm "posting" this message correctly. But... I want to know about translations of Dumas (Pere) translations - perhaps into something less 19th-Century English than I am reading. Can someone help me find good "current" translations, particularly of the D'Artangnan series. Thanks.
JerryO
Good evening, having enjoyed reading the words and thoughts in here thought it about time I said hello.
