How did they come up with the expression "the straw that broke the camel's back." Are they talking about hay? And if so, what is the difference between straw and hay? And why would a camel be around hay/straw in the first place since they live in the desert and walk in the sand? And if they're talking about drinking straws, then why were they dropping straws on the camel to begin with, and how many straws would it take to break the camel's back?

I don't think I can but I will endeavor... Perhaps they meant straw as in the spherical tube used to suck water and drink? Hay sounds more like "Hey" which is a courteous salutation and it could mean "bay" like "the bay of pigs" or what the hell am I yapping on about?
