My name is Terri. I am 28 years old and terriable at introductions. I have loved reading all my life even before I knew how (so my mother tells me). My favorite thing to do is make lists of all the great books I intend to read then read a few and start a new list because someone small and underage has lost or colored on my latest list. I enjoy discussing good literature and often find the discussing as rewarding as the reading. (Well sometimes anyway.)
Welcome Panza. I saw your post in the Don Quixote reading group a little while ago. I bet this forum is a perfect place for you. I hope you enjoy it.
Of course, QuietM. Welcome and make yourself at home. Lots of people here to talk poetry with.
 hello newbies! glad to have you here :)
Hey everyone. You can call me Ocelot, as the name suggests. I'm fourteen, I live in California. My friend said this site was fun so here I am.
hullo, my name is christina and i am from australia.
i chanced upon this site after typing into google "antic hay, aldous huxley" as i am performing my first monologue for year nine drama tomorrow from a rant that one of the ridiculously real artists of the novel goes on...
i've been going through this thread and getting an idea of how to introduce myself, lots of people have created detailed and intriguing introductions, and i say hello to all of the diverse and challenging personalities and ideas that i have come across so far.
i love film making from both sides, acting (as mentioned above) and producing on the techie side, as it is such an experimental media that is so influential in our extremely visual golobal community. cinema can be so beautifull and doesn't just have to be generic and formula, as so much of the rubbish that is released from hollywood and promoted to the hills, i prefer the small gems that you pick up in pokey little places that you must search for. you can always find good haircuts there :)
people are a passion that i enjoy interacting with and observing (preferably the latter). i find them very strange and would love to undertand more about them. i think the internet and other means of readily available forms of global communication are wonderful. to be able to experience so many different points of veiw is grand and eye opening. it allows us to "broaden our minds", as professor trelawney exlaims in our favorite characters' first lesson in divination...
i won't even start on literature because i will not be able to stop, heavens to betsy! i've been going on for far too long already, i guess everyone dropped out pages ago! hehe
anyhoo, i hope to meet lovers of everything, from the bizar to the "normal", although everything is normal to those who know it...
And a nice warm welcome to all new folks who have recently signed on! Look forward to seeing you in the discussions here! :)
Hello, everyone! Here is the voice from China , which is an old and active country lies in the east. She has the magnificent culture that we can always take as a endless treasure. So does the West. I like both of them and they are my two wings when I soaring in the heaven of literature. Here's my poem. I hope that you can read it if you get time and thank you so much if you like them.Hope all friends enjoy a happy life , and please bring my best regards to your families and friends.

Hey all,
I'm twenty, and I call Manitoba, Canada home. I googled "literature forum" and this is the first one that popped up so here I am. I definitely like what I see so far so I plan on being an avid poster on this forum.
Hi Farley!
I know you'll get addicted very soon; good luck lit-netting!
Ahoy all ye bastardry!
The Waffen Oates has hijacked your vessel.
I'm new too.. I found this forum by chance, I was looking for info about the Bronte sisters and see if there was an american society.. and I ran into this forum.. I know I'll love it!
I just discovered this forum, and have briefly checked some of the postings here. There is a very broad range of backgrounds represented by the forum's members.
For the past thirty years I have worked as a naval architect, and for ten years before that, I served in the US Navy. Now approaching retirement age, I have been interested in writing over the last ten years or so. I have written stories ranging from 2,000 words to 80,000. Some of these are fictitious, while others are true. The only published work I've been involved in is a compilation of sea stories that I coordinated, with contributions from eighty others who served in the Navy and Marine Corps, describing situations ranging from frightening war situations to light-hearted comical happenings.
The pieces I'm proudest of include two fictitious items. The shorter one is called The Journal and it describes the life of my uncle before he was killed in World War II. Since he never got around to writing down anything about his life, and we know very little about him, the events that he records in his journal are made up, but are loosely based on my own experiences in the Navy.
The longer piece is called Two Crossings, which describes an eastbound crossing of the Atlantic on the Queen Mary in 1936 by a Jewish couple who have vastly improved their lives since coming to the United States thirty years before, and who recall their westbound journey which first brought them to America, and which was made under much harsher conditions than those aboard the Queen Mary.

I just happened upon this forum (while looking for stuff on Joyce for an essay; ah, the noble art of procrastination!) and it looked like fun so here I am...
I am a 24 year old film and literature student from France currently on an exchange trip to Montréal, I am a verocious reader, aspiring writer and literary critic, and drinker of red wine, I was born in a gutter and raised by wolves, I like camembert and films from the 60s, I hate smilies and do-gooders; my favorite authors are Margaret Atwood, Marguerite Duras, Alberto Moravia, Dostoyevsky, Nabokov, Angela Carter and many others I can't think of now (but, as you can see, I like a bit of everything...).
I look forward to getting to know you all!
Hello everyone! I have been reading on this forum and website a lot, but decided that I would like to join in order to talk to other literature lovers! People who love good literature are really hard to come by! I am currently reading "Emma" by Jane Austen, and have just fininshed "Northanger Abbey" also by Jane Austen. I am a really big fan of Chaucer, Dumas, Dickens, and Austen as well. I am really looking forward to reading and posting here on the forums!
Hey everyone! My name's Greg. I'm an English and Communications major, and am currently a Junior at a small college in Pennsylvania!
Anyone else from PA?
Hey everyone,
I stumbled in through the back door, looking for some reference on Robert Frost's last house (yeah, well, it seemed important at the time) read some of the posts and liked them and signed up. Looking forward to being a minor part of this very highly literate crew.
hi. I'm Natasha, my hometown is Skopje(guess nobody had heard of it). I'm reading addict, so i hope that I'll find something interesting here for discussions .:yawnb:
I am an avid reader living in Hong Kong. I love sharing my reading and getting recommendations from other readers. I read for work, I read for pleasure, I live to read!
My favourite authors are: Jane Austen, Annie Proulx, Ray Bradbury, Anthony Horowitz, William Thackeray, Meg Rosoff, Charles Dickens, Margaret Atwood oh and so many others. My tastes are varied and eclectic; I especially love dystopia, world lit, YA and 'weird': anything different is worth a try - even if I don't enjoy a book I still love comparing notes on it with other readers.
Hello everyone:D , I've been reading the forums here for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join. There really is not a lot to tell you about myself...I'm currently 25 and have had a great love for literature ever since I first learned to read. I wish that I could remember the name of the teacher that gave me the gift of reading, because she helped to open new and exciting worlds for me. My favorite authors include Dostoevsky(whom I have been reading a lot of lately), Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Willa Cather, Homer, Plato, Anais Nin, Tolkien, Ray Bradbury, and honestly the list goes on and on. I am also a huge fan of music and will listen to pretty much anything, but rap(and even that on occasion). My family moved around a lot, when I was younger(and I seem to continue to do so) so my books have always been my best friends. Anyways, I can't think of anything else to really tell you, but I do look forward to getting to know you all better and to any future discourse we may have.:D

Hi, I've just joined up. I love literature and writing. I am currently reading "Sons and Lovers" by DH. Lawrence. I don't know what my favourite book or author is because there are too many to choose from. I live in Australia, married and have 3 teenagers. I'm studying journalism at university and I'll finish at the end of next year.
Cheers.
Well, hi everyone! My name is Manuela and I'm brazilian. I've been reading the forum for a couple weeks and decided to join because I don't know. I really enjoy talking about books, authors, etc.

Hi! Welcome to litnet!
Hey everyone! I'm Layli, from America via Spain and China. I'm here because a friend (she shall remain unnamed) forced me to register and post some of my poetry. I originally found the "Poetry Post" page, and tried to post a poem, but it doesn't want to cooperate. After I sign in, it still tells me that I have to sign in before I can post any poetry. Any suggestions?
Hello Sudha, please see the following thread regarding the Poetry Post :)

Hi, everyone!
I found this forum a few monthes back but not until today did I decide at last to become a member. I love reading, playing piano and harp, and having fun with my brothers. A few of my favorite authors are: Jane Austen, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Agatha Christie, P.G. Wodehouse, and Charlotte Bronte, among others. I like to write, but am still working on the discipline involved.
I'm looking forward to talking to people who actually like reading!
Elise
