Haha nice!
Whooo Hoooo, tomorrow I'm getting a "curly cut" I found a guy that says he's good with the curls; he cuts the hair it while it's dry so we'll see what happens.
I think I'm going to start an experiment to see if there is a correlation with the volume of my hair and the humidity. The only issues I can see is that I would have to keep the type and amount of product the same plus I would have to devise a way to measure the volume. I'll sleep on it.
I got my haircut in town and so far so good. I'm hoping it grows out nicely because I really like this new hairdresser. He is sooo fun, we gossipped like we've known each other for years. Unfortunately I couldn't completely enjoy the experience because just before my appointment I got a phone call from work saying that there had been a little spill, to which I had to spend a good deal of time on the phone with the state police.
papaya's avatar rocks!!! how funny. borat...I've never been so grossed out in my life. That movie was more disgusting than it was funny, but it cracked me up that those people didn't know he wasn't for real...that in itself is hilarious to me.
I laugh every time I come across that avatar!
wait are we all adopting sea-ish avatars?
hummm
:D I know just the one :brow:
  I just thought the swimsuit was sexy   :p :p
Oh yeah, it's super hot!! :p
Not every guy can pull that look off you know, he's really something special. ;)
I am sure it is.. although the color is a bit more disturbing. lol.
Well, again, not every man can pull off that color.
Are you guys laughing at the bathing suit? Yeah I thought it was funny too. Now if I go to the beach this summer and see someone with one of those I'm going to not be able to hold back my laughter.
oops, sorry for entering the girls thread. *slinks off*
I love the new hair,papaya! Very '60s.
Paya! almost didn't recognise you there, yet another brilliant disguise
It is not wise,I have decided,to listen to your dormmates and drink over 6 cups of coffee the night before a major exam.
Ummm,I'm soo tired, but it's too early to sleep...And then,my cousins here always have some before-bed activites...
Papayahed,I adore your avatar!Can I save it in my computer?(I promise I won't use it:P...)
Questions on two different topics.
#1 - Does gelatin really work to help strengthen nails? My nails have been peeling and chipping so easily these last couple of months that it is borderline ridiculous. So I was wondering if anyone has tried this. If so, does it work? Or do any of those nail hardeners (i.e. Sally Hansen - there is some kind of SH nail hardener that is currently on sale that I am thinking about trying :) ) really work? Which is the best?
#2 - Does it seem that if hair is tied back (i.e. in a ponytail) it is more likely to "fall out"? Now, I don't mean fall out as in true hair loss. I am wondering if more hair will fall out while brushhing/combing the hair. Maybe it is just in my mind, but for awhile now it has seemed that there is more hair in my brush than there used to be. Whenever I wash my hair and then comb it through afterwards, there is more in the comb. My grandmother used to always tell me not to wear my hair tied back because I would be more apt to lose it. I have to tie it back now because it is just too hot to wear it down. Then, for dance, I have to tie it back. I have no choice. This is more or less a question that I am curious to know about because if it is true I will avoid tying it back as much as possible. Whenever I would ask someone at a salon about it, they never could give me an answer. So I have given up asking them anything.
I've never had luck with anything, my problem might be that I never stick witrh anything long enough to notice a difference.
My Mom used to tell me if I wore a hat my hair would fall out.:( I don't know. Last summer my hair was always in a ponytail and after a while I noticed breakage around my hair line. I had unwanted bangs for a little while until it grew back.Quote:

I think one reason might be simply that when you don't tie your hair back, you keep loosing hair all the time without noticing it and not all of it ends up in your hairbrush. But if you've had your hair tied back all day long, the loosing hair hasn't fallen off and then when you untie and brush your hair at the end of the day, all of it will be in your brush.
(I really don't know, just guessing here! :D)
oh mines not just tangles its like an ocean wave of craze. It is literally like *POOF* if i don't fix it or wear it up.
It's funny, though - having a long hair sure can bring a lot of trouble, yet at least I wouldn't even consider cutting it short.
What wouldn't women be ready to suffer for beauty or how does that phrase go :p
Having long hair is so much more convenient that short hair, it really is. I thought short hair would be easier so I cut it all off after my youngest, Sam was born and it was a nightmare. I had to actually fix it every single day whether I was in the mood for it or not. With long hair you can always throw it into a pony or a braid and you're good to go. I like that fact that I can put in as much effort into my hair as I have the energy or inclination for. Sometimes I can mess with it forever, curling, straightening, scrunching but other times I want to take 5 minutes and be out the door. Long hair may be a pain in the butt sometimes but I really do like the options it gives. :D
Awww...
Please someone tell us the advantages of having short hair! I really need to hear that!
I am about to get my hair cut very short because I have decided to donate it to Locks of Love; haven't had a hair cut since December 2007 to get it long enough (they require at least 10 inches).
It has been a hard decision as I have had long hair for the past 15 years and my hair is such a big part of the way I look (because of its unruly nature).
It can't be so bad, right? There are many famous ladies around with shorter hair: http://theglamourouslife.com/wp-cont.../celebrity.jpg
So, come on! Please do share your fond memories of short hair!
Aww, Scher, doing it for that cause is reason enough. I really admire your willingness to do that, it's something you should be very proud of and remember, ti always grows back...although sometimes that is a very long and painful process...but still, it grows back. ;) :p
Yeah, I donated to locks of love, which was why my hair used to be really short, but it looks really good if you get a good hair cut to go with it. So, not only are you giving your hair, you're gaining a pretty darn good look.
I've always had short hair, it's usually better than long hair. It doesn't get in your food, in your eyes or in the hands of children who pull at it like maniacs.
Now, it's a bit long (by my waist) but it's a bit cumbersome, I like it but I love my short hair.
I have pretty long hair. There were times in my life when it was really short, and I hated it. While I agree that it can be a pain long, most of the time I have it up and out of the way. But, doing it this way, I have more choices on what to do with it for big occassions and such.
I don't die or style my hair. As a result, it is completely natural and heathly. When I go for hair cuts, and I change my hair dresser; I always get compliments. I especially find this funny when I go to NY to get my hair done. Most of the hair dressers ask "how do I keep it so healthy?" Meanwhile, they are foiling, perming, and blow drying others.
Yeah, I just am not too sure about what to do. I went to Walgreens to see if they had that Sally Hansen polish, but it was sold out, of course. I am actually skeptical, anyway. I once bought this nail care kit from QVC. It was the ProStrong stuff that they sell. Supposedly this was a miracle worker for everyone. I followed directions. I did everything as I was told to do. You know what? This polish that was supposed to make the nails stronger actually made my nails weaker. So to go from already weak nails to something worse didn't make me happy at all.
I used to tell my ex that was going to happen to him because he wore a baseball cap all the time. I was just being an unpleasant person when I did that. One day I noticed he was losing his hair. I never told him because I didn't know how to broach the subject. When he got his hair cut, and found this out, I never heard the end of it because I didn't tell him. Whether or not that had to do with his wearing a cap all the time, I don't know. Still, I think his hair flattened because he wore a hat ALL the time.Quote:

I wondered that, too. But why can't the hairstylists give me an answer like this. I just wish they'd give me something! Anyway, I hate how my hair seems to fall out when I wash my hair. That bothers me so much more than when I just brush it. Then when I comb it out after the washing, the amount of hair that falls out then is just absurd!
Tangled hair is an issue with me, too, these days! I used to have that all the time when I was a kid It stopped, but now these past couple of months have been ridiculous. My hair is actually fine when I have it down (unless it is windy - then it slightly tangles). The tangling issue is when I was my hair. I always comb my hair out before I wash it. Then, while washing, it tangles up. So that fact doesn't help with the falling out fact at all. :( I tried to use one of those de-tangling shampoos. That almost helped to tangle it more. I guess I am just hopeless. :)
Well my hair grows quite fast so I tend to switch from almost waist length air to quite short hair. And one of the best things about it is that short hair - or having your hair cut short helps control the evil split ends ( although Ill probably only ever get rid of them if I shave my head ..which I keep thinking about). Unless your hair has a tendency to like to stand up on end short hair can be neater and easier to handle than long hair and you hardly ever get toothpaste in it if you are really really sleepy in the mornings when you brush your teeth and dont realise what you are doing. Plus change is good oh and Ive always found that my hair growns back thicker afetr a drastic cut - which is great for me anyway as I have super fine hair. you dont use half as much shampoo or conditioner. you can do drastically differnt things with gel. You get less hot ( actually scher maybe you should wait till march time i was freezing last time I cut my hair short just before winter because you never quite appreicate how much extra warmth your hair stores.)
I know one of my sisters who has rather unruly hair will now never have it long again becasue she can control it better when its short . Im the opposite well unless I have a really sever inverted bob so that its about chin length at the front and less than half an inch long at the back. A bit like the girl in this
