nah i think thats just part of growing up, having the head ripped off you and being treated like a doll........

I didn't ever cut my own hair, to respond to someone's question, but I slept with gum in my mouth once and had to have my hair cut by my, er, rather 'annoyed' mother.....
Hey girls, whatcha all up to?
We are in the middle of a heat wave here in the Prairies, and it almost kills you to go bike riding down the trails. Fortunately, about 60% of the trail is shaded by the forest. But yah, it has been very hot lately!
There isn't much going on here. It is warm and sunny so we are planning to do lots of outside things with the kids. I think we are going to go berry picking tomorrow, and then I'm going to make jelly with it. I'm trying to figure out a good way that my son can help me to make it without actually involving him in the use of the stove.
I'm also planning to get my hair cut. Anyone have any good ideas? It is really thick so I'm somewhat limited. You can see what it looks like now in my avatar. It is just long, no layers or anything so something must be done. I just don't know what...
[QUOTE=Idril;417823]You are all very kind but I think it's just the ugly clothes, they make you feel sorry for me. :p  QUOTE]
Honey you need to see my clothes! i have a photo of me when i was much much younger, i had very short very boyish hair, and its greasy. I'm wearing this white boyish jumper with this purple signs or logos on them and white jeans which look my mom shortened them, you know some trousers you shorten and the shape goes all funny? well i look hillarious. but my eyes and nose look so cute (narcisstic i know) and im biting my lips, poser from a very young age.
whats the story opti? where you been hiding lately?
ok, ya know you have a bad hairdo when the guy at work tells you your hair was puffy. HaHa, a guy came up to me today and told me I had some big hair yesterday, they were laughing because it was sprouting out of both sides of my hard hat and when I walked it would bounce.
That happened to me once. My friends curled my hair with rollers even though my hair is already curly...wow, it was the biggest fro ever.
You know how kind of poofy loose blouses and shirts are 'in syle' now? Well I was wearing one at work once, this old man came up and started talking to me about his 50th wedding anniversary and stuff...then he says "I guess its not nearly as big of a day as when you first kid is born now is it?!" Then he winks at me and looks down at my stomach...and wags his eyebrows!:flare: I asked every single male that I worked with if I was fat or if I looked pregnant. They said no and laughed at me the rest of the day saying I looked like a pregnant whale.:(
I know what you're talking about. The clothes that are trendy right now are so weird. I have one of those maternity-look shirts you're talking about.
My other complaint is the low cut v-necks they're selling. In fact, that's all they're selling. It's very hard to find something that is suitable to wear to work. But if you want to show half your boobs off then you're all set.
I think that with that low-cut style, they are really trying to get you to buy another item that goes UNDER it, like that layered look? Then they get to sell you two tops, instead of the one! No fair!
My friend bought a corsette recently. To wear to the PUB! What is the world coming to, anyhow! She is seriously going to wear it (under an un-done denim jacket). I dunno, but I'd never do that...
i think thats very much in fashion though. i have a corset thats a size 14 (i'm a 12) and its too small. never worn it, never will. Do you have those mad looking tunic type tops, cant think of what they are called, think begins with m...... never mind! anyway these tops, very in your face patterns are the rage over here at the mo and most of them a minging. people are everywhere wearing them. And what makes them terrible is that they dont flatter your figure and make you look three sizes bigger than you actually are!
Mind you, there are girls walking around in much worse than that!
Probably a bunch of guys in here pretending to be girls, judging from some of these posts.
Ha Ha! What ever makes you say that?
We DID have a boy in here once, and we made him wear a wig, didn't we, Niamh?
Ok then -- Kand ... see something you like? :)

Oh my! Those wigs are very flattering, kiz.

Kathy has many of us chained. I was able to get free. I outsmarted her. She tortures by singing constantly. Very masochistic ( i think iv used the wrong word, that implies she derives sexual pleausre from all that. very sick indeed. we need a mental institution...iv just had a great idea)

Hi girls. I could use a little help. Just how much hair can fall out of your head before you start to have bald spots? I've been shedding lately, there isn't another word for it, but this has been going on for almost a year. Each time I brush my hair, the brush is almost filled again with hair that is coming out. This is on top of what pulls out during the day and when I shower. If anyone knows how to make this stop, please let me know. I had attributed it to being because I was no longer pregnant, but my daughter will be a year old in a week. This hasn't showed any signs of slowing, and I'm worried if it keeps going the I'll have bald spots. My hair is really thick to start, so you don't notice right now, but you can see where hair is regrowing at the base of my neck. It is much shorter than all the rest. Thanks for the help Meg:)
Maybe you're super-stressed? My aunt lost major patches of hair when she was stressed out during college. Maybe you should get a check up? Maybe you're more stressed than you perceive. If it were me and if I were worried about it, I would schedule an appointment with a doctor or call a nurse line maybe.
I have longish hair and I shed a lot as well but your situation sounds a little different. When I wash my hair and I run conditioner through my fingers come out with strands wrapped out them  but I also have thick hair. I mean, I guess hair normally comes out but in your case I would at least give someone a call. Maybe they can give you a check up or maybe you need a good vitamin. I don't know!! Good luck.
i've been shedding for years and i've still got a head of hair! :p
I'm with shalot. Could be caused by stress. But i did once ask one of the teachers in secondary school why our hair falls out sometimes. She told me that it happens to everyone and that its a natural occurance.
Don't worry! It's because of stress. It also happens to me very often. Don't worry, you won't turn bald :) If you think your hair is falling a lot, go to the chemist shop or to the doctor. There are very useful capsules, which you have to put in your hair, to make your hair stronger.
Are you stressed? Maybe you must take some valerian pills o something similar to be relaxed.
Everyone loses hair everyday, but this sounds different. It could be stress or a vitamin deficiency especially if you are nursing. Try taking prenatals. They are great for you skin and nails too....I try everything before going to the doctor...I hate going so I put if off as long a possible.
Personally, I tend to side with those wise girls here who said that it could be stress. But next time you see your doctor, maybe give it a mention? Canna hurt, that's for sure. Those that mentioned taking vitamins -- good advice. Take care, Meg.
And congrats to Nossa on those superb marks! Welcome back Opti! And Granny, good to have you aboard!
Why don't we have some of our delightful tea, ladies? I am all up for pouring some of that strawberry kiwi stuff that is over there in the corner! Anyone have some yummy baking to throw into the bargain? ;)
I'm always amazed at how much hair my wife sheds, same thing, the shower and hair brush. She's got a thick head of hair and there is no sign of bald spots or thinning. I've mentioned it to hwr and she says its normal. Meg, I get the feeling what your describing is different. In our newspaper there is a write in column to a doctor who answers questions, and one thing he once said has always stuck with me. If a patient suspects something is not right, it should be investigated fully, because a patient tends to be right about knowing himself. You sense something is different Meg, I would look into it if I were you.
Oh how about some nice tea sandwichs?
It's funny on my way home I was thinking about finding this thread to talk about my latest hair cut. I think my new hair stylist may be fabulous!! We'll know for sure in about a week, but he strightened my hair without using any products.
Anyways, on to Meg. I did a search and found this:

Quote:
A. Everyone loses between 40 & 120 strands a day, depending on how much hair you have, your age & your hair's growth cycle. People with fine hair tend to have more of it & therefore will lose more of it than their thicker-haired sisters & brothers. Your hair also thins as you get older, particularly after menopause for women, but the thinning will stop & not continue as it will for men.
Here are common causes of hair loss:
1. Seasonality. You'll lose the most hair in the fall -- typically November and December when hair reaches maturity in its growth cycle.
2. Diet. Hair loss can occur through poor dieting, tight ponytails, even with age. According to dermatologist George Cotsarelis, M.D., director of the University of Pennsylvania Hair and Scalp Clinic, iron deficiency may be the cause. He states in the April 2006 issue of 'Ladies Home Journal,' it might be worth checking your levels with your doctor & take a supplement if they're low.
3. Pregnancy Some women experience hair loss with pregnancy or as part of post-pregnancy hormonal changes. Other women experience hair loss when going on or off (usually off) the birth control pill.
4. Illness Sometimes it happens as a result of illness. Even stress, excessive weight loss, iron deficiency & thyroid problems can cause hair loss.
If you're really worried, ask your doctor, however, experts say you really only need to worry if your part is getting wider or you can see your scalp through your hair. But don't worry, not all hair loss is permanent. There is a specialty doctor called a 'trichologist,' an expert in hair problems. You can make an appointment and ask the doc for a diagnosis.
Extra tip: If you're a woman you won't experience male-pattern baldness. Women's hair tends to thin all over. The only FDA-approved hair loss treatment for women is Minoxidil, according to scalp specialist David Kingsley, PhD, in the November, 2005 issue of 'O' magazine. Minoxidil works in 60-70 percent of cases by improving the follicle's ability to produce hair, Kingsley said.
yeah, I have a thick, thick hair, but I used to get worried about that too. But then I always have my hair up in ponytails, so I figured out it was because of that. But its never so much to cause worry or anything.
Thaks for the information everyone. I'm due for a checkup, and I may mention it. My hair is really fine in texture, but it is dense on my head. As an idea, it can take thirty minutes (total) to get shampoo and conditioner completely off my scalp and out of my hair. I don't remember this much ever coming out, but maybe stress is the answer. I'll take a bit of advice from everyone. Start a vitamin, try to settle down some, and if that doesn't help I'll have a chat with the doctor. Thanks for the feedback everyone:)
I hope your hair gets better! ;)
Have you changed your shampoo recently?
Nope, I've been using the same one for a while.
