Hello Everyone,
Raspberry jelly here, I'm an avid reader so I'm really looking forward to talking to you all and sharing opinions and insights. Hopefully I will also discover fantastic new books along the way.
I am armanfaruqui, a retired professor, yet eager to learn. With this intention I have joined this forum.
Wellcome, both of you! I hope you will find what you search for... :)
So many newcomers, its hard to catch up with you all, but I hope you're enjoying LitNet! :D
Hey, I am an almost 18 year old who is in a constant battle of childhood vs. youth vs. the approaching adulthood. In a sense I am all three, you'll catch me coming back from a party and turning on chipndales rescue rangers followed by a biography of JFK. An odd combination but its fun. I'll be attending university this fall (u of t likely) majoring in something science related (not confident enough to declare yet). That's all I'll say for now. I can't disclose any more personal information as if my friends found out that I am on here um, well, lets just say they are typical literature-hating teenagers.
hello to all the newbies..
i practically feel new myself!
Oh Eva, you're not new. You were always in our thoughts.
All right a quick introduction to myself. My name is Jose and this is my first time using this website. I joined in order to be able to get some insightful views on certain poems written by Lord byron. It seems that the people registered here are extremely friendly. To tell the truth I am not that much of a poetry fanatic partially because i have some trouble understanding it but then again perhaps no personal translation can be wrong. Well, thanks for reading and I hope somebody or anybody at all feels free to reply!
Welcome! All of you!
Hi, I'm new here!
I found this forum while searching for Icelandic poetry. I am a secondary school science teacher but have always loved reading novels and poetry. I live in England and am getting married in Iceland later this year (hence the poetry search).
I don't know what else to tell you!
Hi Jose :).. (that's my daddy's name!!) , Hello Biker(Congrats! i wish i were getting married too :D)
hope you like the place and become regular members..!
Hey =]]
Well I'm UK based, and am a sporty person. In my spare time, I mainly exercise/compete my and other peoples horses, but I do go running in the mornings.
I used to ride pillion on a motorbike, but an accident a year ago halted that [I haven't been allowed back on]. I dislocated my collar bone [sternoclavicular joint], knee, and have been having shoulder, hip, knee, back and neck problems since. Thus why I run - it keeps my knee slightly more in shape xD
I took my GCSE options, and chose French, drama, textiles and history, on top of the basic subjects [math, english, sciences etc]
I intend to study Forensic Pathology at university, with a gap year to focus on my riding.
I hope to be selected for the olympics [we can all dream, right?] but will settle for Europeans.
That's all about me really, any more questions, ask =]
xx
Hi!
I have no idea what to write about myself....ummm... I'm very sarcastic and I have a whole buncha hobbies. To name a few I like reading (never without a good book), art (I keep a drawing pad and pencils in my purse), writing (oh the joy!), dancing ( I want to do ballroom dancing... oh how I wish *sigh*), annoying friends with my constant talking, and reading (did I mention that already?). I LOVE horses and hiking but ever since I moved to Cali I have been unable to either ride horses or go hiking )^:
I'm a high school student and plan to become a middle school art teacher when I get older. I was born and raised in California up till about three and a half years ago when I moved to Kentucky for three years and found out that I am a country girl in heart. I moved back to Cali this year before school started ( literally a day before freshman orientation, a week before school started) and found that am definitely not a city girl. I love rolling hill and ride spaces and hat being able to touch the next door neighbors house when I reach out my window. Well, anywho, that's pretty much me in a nutshell.
Oh yah ,I came here on a friends recommendation and am a complete newbie. (^:
Hello to all. I am here to begin my journey into the world of avid reading and writing. I have never been interested in reading classic literature and I want to begin. As a matter of fact, what would you recommend as the 5 best of all time. Would you include "The Catcher in the Rye?" I need to broaden my mind with good reading.
Hi everybody, my name is Mike-
I'm at present into Lawrence Durrelll, DH Lawrence, and Ezra Pound. Especially Durrell. Anyone else??
I'm also very into Eastern religions esp Krishnamurti. I don't believe in aliens but am otherwise open minded.
ciao, mike
Welcome Mjc. I've never read Durrell, but I am a fan of Lawrence and Pound. Hope you'll enjoy lit net.
Hey Everyone!
I'm new to the forums part of this site, although I have been using the literature part of this site for quite some time. Well, about me.... I'm Canadian(you may not know this, but we actually do NOT live in igloos and I don't have a polar bear as a pet...), and I joined because I wanted some advice on books to read. Another reason I joined is because I want to meet others with a passion for the written word, like me! Most people around me don't take me(a highschool student) seriously when I talk about this subject, and they laugh when I express my disgust over only getting to read around 3 books a week because of my busy schedule. They do not understand that this is important to me, and everyone makes time for the things that are important to them!!!
Well i won't bore you with any more details of my otherwise boring life!
~Rae~

Hi to you all. I am brand new and shiney here. I come from Merrie olde England and I would rather read than eat. The biggest problem with books that I have is when the darned thing slides into the bath.....I probably have the wrinkliest book collection in the UK:lol:
Just thought I'd say hello and thanks for putting together a literature forum. Who'd have thought the internet could be so interesting! Here's my brief introduction:
I'm a Londoner but live in rural west Wales, and enjoy most forms of literature. I write some poetry and short stories, and non-fiction articles, and I'm currently researching a phd in English Renaissance poetry at the University of Wales, looking particularly into the sonnet and it's representation of the self and consciousness.
I also have interests in Milton, the English Victorian novel, and the Romantic period, particulalry Blake and Wordsworth.
Hope to make some contributions to our discussions.
Hi all! Welcome to the litnet forum! :)
Welcome newbies. Nice to have you here.
Hi! New here!
I come from Greece. Actually i have two hobbies (movies and reading) well..also travelling when there is extra money to spend!
Now i read the Count of Monte Cristo. It's fascinating!
It's difficult to tell which is my favourite book. I'll just name a few that come to mind..such as "The Lord Of The Rings", "Jane Eyre", "Bleak House" and almost everything from Terry Pratchet and Douglas Adams.:yawnb:
Welcome Manolia! I too love movies, reading, and travel. Those are some great favorite books you have! I am sure you will really like it here! :D
Ahoj, všichni. I'm new here, I'm Czechoslovakian. I more or less devote most of my time to writing, because of personal reasons. The Count of Monte Cristo is an interesting book but I limit my reading since it will interfere with my own writing. Has anyone ever read The Face in the Frost? You guys need a better writer's club though, or maybe just add another one.
Hello everybody!I'm an O'levels literature student studying under a syllabus which includes Great Expectations and Macbeth along with short stories and poems. My teacher recommended me to this site.
Welcome Gazette! I too like the Count of Monte Cristo.
