Hello everyone.
I recently stumbled across the forum and thought I'd register and chip in from time to time. Currently reading (and loving) Midnight's Children, and am looking forward to many a recommendation from you all on here!
Joined yesterday, made a few posts.. Hello, people.:)
What do I read?.. I'm probably different from many people here because actually, I'm getting bad about reading. Nothing seems that interesting to me and I have a habit of starting one book after another until I've got several unfinished books. So perhaps I joined in some hope that being around people who love books and reading would motivate me to read more. I don't seem to have as much patience for books anymore and my eyes get sleepy reading the words sometimes. I want to enjoy reading books more like other people do, but I guess I'm becoming more of a picky reader.
Anyway, hello and I hope I enjoy this place..Thanks.
Hi!
I found here when I was searching for criticism of Jane Eyre.
The website is great. I'm so excited about being a member of it.
Are you using a hosting site? I recommend Photobucket. It is so easy to upload to there and you can keep your photos in categories. Name a file before you do upload to it because once you post the URL in here it will not be here should you move that file. You have to use the [IMG] formating in the hosting site - you just copy that one out and past right in the body of this text box. Any problems, let me know.
Welcome to all newbies! Wow, we have had a flood of new people lately - great to see it!:D
Hi everyone, I am new at this sort of thing so please don't be offended if I start by asking for some help. I am a bit of a hoarder and have collected all sorts of things over the years, coins, banknotes & books. I started to do a spring clean the other day (even though we are going into winter) and I found a 1st edition 1923 of DH Lawrece's Kangaroo. I have begun to read it but took time out to try and find out a bit more about this book - but I can't seem to find out very much, can anybody help?
Good evening, this being my first few minutes on this site, I am taking it easy with the introductory speech. So perhaps bullitans are going to be more usefull.
1. I was born near a family reservation in NC, and since have moved over 50 times. I have lived up in the mountains,as well on two islands, bundled up in cold weather, and stripped in the tropics, lived in large houses and resided in small appartments.
2. I come from a military family, background being mostly Cherokee but with Russian, and some other euro trash thrown in.
3. The only family in which I speak with is my father/mother who lives his days in Malawi.
4. I have worked at an elementary school as a librarian, a hospital as an Occupational Therapist, a outdoor theater as an actor, an international center as a foreign diplomat, a Cuban restaurant as a server, a Microbrewery, a natural foodstore, and massage therapy.
5. I am a walking oxymoron, I have no idea what my path in life is, I enjoy random events randomly, and let's see...... I am easily amused, rarely awed.
Hello friends! I of course, am new. I just came to seek a little bit of feedback on the opening section of my 'book' (If you could call it that.) I just happened to have an idea that I figured would make a good book, so I put it on paper! =]
Anyways, I am very excited to be a part of this community. Thanks guys!

Hi everybody, I found this when I was searching for the book persuasion. It's a great forum. I am from China, and just started reading a few books when I felt the need for it at the age of late 20's. Feeling ashamed......
Hi,
My name is JerryO. I've never done this before and am not sure, by replying to a thread (these are new terms for me), I'm "posting" this message correctly. But... I want to know about translations of Dumas (Pere) translations - perhaps into something less 19th-Century English than I am reading. Can someone help me find good "current" translations, particularly of the D'Artangnan series. Thanks.
JerryO
Good evening, having enjoyed reading the words and thoughts in here thought it about time I said hello.
