Ah, the games transfix me. It's odd, when my daughter was growing up my friends and her teachers were always telling me I gave her too much intellectual freedom (I was overprotective about her going places; but we live in a rough neighborhood). I don't like slasher movies and gore; but I like real life crime movies and shows like CSI and Criminal Minds and forensic stuff.
Jessica likes Japanese horror like The Grudge; but those scare me to death with those creepy little kids. Yeah, your mom seems really cool. It's great that you like your parents, no really. You know, you can love people but you don't always like them. When I was young, I liked my mom most of the time; but she got really wierd when I got about 15. I had all sorts of freedom and then when I started looking grown up, they started giving me curfews. My dad was old school, spank the kids until they leave home. He actually took a belt to my sister when she was 23. My mom would go after the kids with a broom. I guess that's how I raised my daughter; changing everything I thought they did wrong.

yea my mum was sort of overprotective. but rightfully so. its rough.
i like some blood and guts movies. i cant stand those fighting ones where they always have to have the last say b4 peltin each other. i like sweeny todd. that type of blood and guts.
my mum is awesome. she listens to the stupid rubbish i come up w.
my dad gave me freedom wen i was litttle, now, nope. he uesd to let me do that fun stuff, like the first time i really tasted chocolate w him. we used to have a kite. he let me ride the trolley the unsafe way, but the fun way. i suppose that stuff has changed now that, yea, i dont really want to ride the trolley the dangerous way.

Yes, I really liked Sweeny Todd, though I like most anything with Johnny Depp...I never watched the really early stuff. Your dad seems really cool, too. How do you ride a trolley the unsafe way; we don't have trolleys here, except in San Francisco and New Orleans. Jessica and I always looked young for our age; she looked 14 until she was in her mid-20's. I looked really young, too. I was 21 when Jessica was born and had been married almost 3 years; but people used to give me dirty looks because I looked so young they thought I was a teenage, unwed mother. You are beautiful, like your mother, and look quite a bit older than your age...I think you look at least 16/17. I guess being the mother of a daughter who looks older and acts older might be a bit of a challange.

of course, being me (no kidding) my mum isnt as worried about letting me do things. i mean, i at least look like I can bash someone. A smaller, more frail girl would have a lot more troubles.

I act older on occasions. I mean, I'm in a religious group at school. I'm in year nine and every other member is in year twelve. It is useful sometimes, but inconvenient others. I wanted to do debating with school. I was the only one in my year level intereseted, again, the other were pretty much all year 12s. The idea was they stay back after school to prepare our speeches, then we go and eat at the local shopping centre, then back to school, on the bus, and to the debating school. Of course, these kids are grown up, and yea, sure, they quite often go out to the shops. I mean, it would be safe, a group of six, not little kids. The responsible young adults, these ones are, I mean, religious groups and debating, what more could my parents want me involved in?
It makes sense they wont let me, because I am young. I would've liked the debating though.

Your dad sounds really cool/a little adverturous. You are a nice size; but you do look like you are self assured and could take care of yourself. I was in some advanced classes when I was 15, I had finished my highschool curriculem early. Of course, the older students had alot of freedom and some were even older than 17 or 18; because they had returned to school. I occasionally cut class to go to the beach or out with them.
The lies really got difficult to cover. My mom picked me up from school and I would go off with the kids in their cars, hang out at the beach, sometimes strip down to my underclothes to go swimming, and show back up to school with sand in my shoes, messy air dryed hair, and partially wet clothes. Other times, I would skip and walk all the way to my neighborhood; then walk back before it was time for my mom to pick me up.
One day, she caught me walking back to school. She was livid. It seemed odd to me that she was more upset about being put out by taking and picking me up from school and didn't really seem interested in what I had been doing...that is, until I started skipping class to see a boyfriend.
It was funny. This boy had a crush on me and constantly visited my house. I thought he was really dumb and he was 19 years old. My mom kept bugging me to be nice to him and he was always around the house. One day, his friend, my boyfriend dumped me and he just seemed there as a shoulder to cry on.
My mom always let me go out with him and it was one of the only ways to keep from that clostrophobic house. There wasn't much to do; but we hung with the other kids in the neighborhood and I spent alot of time with his family; they were very close and good to me. In a few months I decided I would marry him...then my mother went balistic.

Yes, it is unfortunate that the debate team is so much older than you; I think you'd be wonderful on the debate team. It's wonderful to be a genius; but it is a real drag socially. I guess the thing about religious kids, is that when they pair up, they are much like nonchristian kids. My mother was always pushing me to date boys from our church: one night, this boy I did not like at all took me to the beach...we were supposed to go get something to eat. He suddenly claimed his car broke down. I lifted the hood of the car and found he had disconnected some of the cables. I told him to either connect them or I was calling the pastor...you better believe he fixed them. I told my mother that I wasn't dating anymore of her church friends perverted sons; the kids at school might read Karl Marx and smoke pot; but they didn't try to attack me

I guess my dad is alright, as far as dads go. They are weird and foreign.
I'm one of those people who try to appear physically tough. It does definitely help though. Some kid was bothering my last year so I stood up taller, spread my shoulders out and put my hands on my hips and demnded he tell me what he wants or leave me be. He ran like crazy...
As if you would skip school. I mean, to be in the extra classes, I know I'd actually have to be there. I have never skipped schoool or class or anything, and I doubt I will.
Eh... Hilarious. I married a toy train once. Today I was dumped by a boy I didn't even know I was going out with. He seemed so sincere and apologetic so I at least tried to be upset whilst laughing on the inside and wondering who in the world this kid was. Weird.
Mummy says no boyfriends whatsoever. Whatever. They are a bunch of abies or the are too old that I can't control everything they do. I like to control peoples lives, especially when they can't control their own.

What nationality is your dad? When I was going to school, they had began a program of testing kids IQ's and giving them psychological tests, then they would drag them out of the classes with their friends and place them in classes which mirrored their IQs. I had a high IQ; but I only liked the arts: music, drama and such. I didn't like my new classmates, I felt isolated. They began to build schools with large rooms for multi-class lecturing (I was more interested in looking around the room), the building was dark and had few windows; I felt like I was in prison. I noticed the teachers test patterns on the test, so I would "christmas tree" the test, do almost no homework, skip school and still make average grades.
I wonder if the fellow who was teasing you last year had a crush on you? I spent most of my 10-14 age being made fun of by the teachers and classmates. My parents were wierd and really religious, I had to wear a dress during atletic activities. They would sometimes pretend to be my friend, learn more about me and then pass around mean things about me or get their boyfriends to tease me.
When I turned 15, my appearance really changed and I dropped my parents beliefs. The first thing I did was systematically steal each of those girls boyfriends and after a week or two, dump them. I guess, it is the only time I have ever been vengeful; but the misery a person experiences when young is so much more intense because they aren't aware of the fact that all will soon change.
I like your story about the guy who "dumped you"; well, it was very nice of you to suppress your laughing. I think 13 is too young to date; though most parents do allow their children to go to male-female gatherings at that age. I told my daughter I prefered that she date at 16 or 17; because, if she feel in love, she could handle not becoming intimate for maybe a year. I met my second husband when I was 14, and was totally infatuated, I think I would have done anything he asked...of course, he was, at that time, In love with a classmate.

Don't they test your IQ in school? They like to know what they're dealing with here, I guess. I don't know, I guess, once finding out my IQ, I felt a bit smug. Then I wondered why I was so stupid with such a high IQ:confused:

Do you have 12 years of school in your country. Is there some reason why you want to work so hard now? What will you do in year 12 when you pass all the subjects you need in year 11? I took all music and drama courses the last two years of school; but then I wondered why I had to still attend classes. Jessica took an equivalency test and graduated at 16; then went to college. For some reason, that is a very unpopular choice in the states. In some ways, she did lose the last few years of opportunities to socialize with people her own age.

They don't test our IQ. Still, in our school, it isn't how smart you are.
I mean, it helps, but a lot has to do with what we put in. They don't categorise us like that.
13yrs, including prep. Kindergarten would make it 15.
I'n year 12 I'd just pick up different subjects. Only the extra points go onto my enter score.
Drama and music isn't that peachy here, there is still a lot of written work.
I don't know if we have equivalency tests here... Would suit me fine though. I'm sick of people my age anyway.

I think it would be better to judge people by effort rather than IQ. I learn faster and can assimilate more than many people; but I was too stressed by all of the teasing in the lower years and once I became 15, I was much more interested in hanging out with my friends. I liked literature; but they often chose really downer books like Virginia Woolf stuff. One time they made it mandatory to read a book by Truman Capote about a whole family being massacred...Sick stuff.
Yeah, I never quite fit in with people my own age; there were some kids in my later years (like some of the kids on this thread) that were really advanced and I hung out with them. Of course, they really made all sorts of efforts with their intelligence: you know, delving into politics and actually learning several instruments.
Later, I thought I did better with much older people; looking back, I think they kind of manipulated me. Now, I find alot of people my own age are all ticked off because they now think that if they had a do over, they could have become brain surgeons or millionaires. Then, they complain that their children are making the same mistakes and trying to live their lives for them...
I guess that's why I prefer to talk to alot of the guys on lit net; or hang with people in their 30's, they aren't disappointed yet.

Effort, yea I guess. That is my strong point. I mean, I'm intelligent, but mostly just because I try. Still, I only think that for some things. I mean, with things like leadership roles, for example. Effort is great, but if you can't really do anything beneficial, then they should just pick a genious who has a great solution to everyones problems. Then again, maybe effort isn't my strong point.
I've always been better with older people. I am very confident. I used to be a little intraverted, but willing majority of the time.
I also have a very good control over younger kids. Its hard to explain but I can handle them.
I like meeting new people. They are yet to judge me.

It sounds as if you are a natural leader. I think you make a lot of effort where you perceive that it will be of the most benefit. There are some causes that are not worth ones effort. I was never a "joiner". I remember in school, I liked the drama and chorus groups; but I never quite got the campaigning for class president or voting for most popular kids or prom queen. Usually, it was what I like to call "pluggers" that went in for that: rather ordinary, not particularly intellegent people who just such things were of importance.
Pluggers are often the people who make it to the top; they are often the people who become our presidents, our law makers, our lawyers and teachers. Unfortuantely, they are often ineffective because they have difficulty thinking past their own little bubbles.
I think everyone we meet judges us; but adults often will gather more information first, judge on different attributes or are more subtle.

I'm a natural leader who hasn't been awarded any leadership roles due to it so far being a popularity contest. I like to run for those things. It is one of those things where you see someone doing something and you know you could do it ten times better, or at least differently.
People judging you isn't a bad thing or a good thing. It is just a thing. Like, if you are walking down the street and you see a little old lady on one side of the road and a big scary tough guy on the other, staring straight into your eyes, which person would you rather walk alongside? Generally, the little old lady, but you never know, she could be more dangerous. And that big tough guy could be an angel. Then again, you never know, so for your own safety, you have to judge.

Yes, that is true; there are alot of times in life when popularity counts more than who can do the job properly.
Yes, there is a difference between the type of judgements we have to make about who to trust, what is safe, etc. and people being judgemental. I think being judgemental is more biased.

Popularity is good for me when the teacher want something done. I go by reputation in that state, because I've got a good one thus far.
I'm bias. Incredibly. Moslty just for my family, and the epic sibling rivalry.

I have the kind of popularity where people always want me to come to those parties where they are inviting alot of people they don't know...they want me to mix and be funny. They introduce me, this is Gail, she's funny...say something funny Gail...:smilielol5:

Haha. Sounds like fun. I get invited to strange parties, never my friends parties. My year level haven't gotten into the big house parties yet. I probably wouldn't go anyway.

Hey... Where did the swarm of young people go? I think we frightened them away.

I think alot of the kids have their computer time limited and the others are in mid-term testing. School is really tough nowdays. I know Jess just went back to school and has like 6 hours of homework a day. She's doing a medical class and is having to learn more anatomy and physiology than I did for nursing. She barely has time to watch a movie.
I notice that most of the threads don't survive very long. People go at them hot and heavy and suddenly lose interest. The game threads really seem to be popular!

I could be doing six hours of homework a day.
The game threads are fun.
There aren't all too many juniors anyway.

I wonder if I'm an honorary junior yet? I had suggested they call this an under 18 thread; There is quite a few of the 16 to 18 crowd. I think Mother Hubbard had a younger daughter... actually, I think it's chaney.

Yes, it'd be great if Chaney came on. I think she is between your and Baje's age. She has a new hamster with a super long name. I still have my cat; who is constantly complaining that we can't make the rain stop. He also has this girlfriend who keeps dumping him for stronger, tougher cats. I have had to make up for his pain with a lot of extra treats and catnip:nonod:

Oh that is a picture of me and my cousins, my nanny, pops and one of my cousin's girlfriends!( That is the one hugging my nanny and pops.)
