there are aspects of college teaching and coaching that are just wonderful so im tempted to say that, but my goodness that temptation is relatively quickly destroyed by so many instances of problem students and administrators that too often make it stressful bordering on miserable.
I think a particular slice of teaching I experienced stands in contrast to what I wrote above---being a grad assistant and teaching classes while being a student at the same time.
I also worked cross-country and track & field camps for 7 summers and loved that...
oh wait---! I also worked in aquatics for years and apart from the aforementioned "administration", I absolutely loved teaching swimming to kids, water exercise to adults, and lifeguard training to high school and college students.
