Halls of the Dark Muse

What is going on?

Some of you may recall my previous post I did about a very close friend of mine who seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth, and ceased responding to my e-mails.

Yes, I still haven't let it go, or altogether accepted it, so last night I sent an e-mail to one of his alternative e-mail addresses, which I had thought about doing a few times before, but I had presumed that if for some reason he was no longer using his former e-mail address, the one of which I always used to get in contact with him, he would have mentioned it to me, and I would have thought that he would have got in touch with me after not having heard from in such a long time if he was still around, and had the ability to communicate and was not avoiding me.

Apparently that was a silly thing to assume. He responded to reposed to the e-mail I sent him using this other address of his, and he sounded completely oblivious to the fact that he has not spoken to me since last summer, and that he has ignored several of my attempts to get in touch with him.

It is as if he has been existing in some sort of time warp this entire time he has been gone. He gave this very causal response to my e-mail, and was just like "hey nice to hear from you again" and seemed confused by my references to his not having been in touch with me for so long.

So I responded explaining to him the several attempts I made to get in touch with him and how they have passed unanswered and how I had thought he had stopped talking to me.

I will see what happens, if and when he gets back to me on that.

Funny thing about the "Internets", isn't it? This newest manifestation of having a "pen pal" has its own drawbacks and pitfalls, namely being in touch with someone only to discover that one day he seems to have, as you put it, "dropped off the face of the earth." (alternatively--"abducted by aliens," which is how we put it 'round here.)

[Speaking of which, I haven't posted a real blog entry in ages-- well, that's neither here nor there.]

In some cases, any number of things could happen-- the person could actually have exited this mortal realm (sad as
that possibility may be, or it could be illness (his or that of a family member), his computer may have crashed (which happened to me, hence I've been using a borrowed PC) or
most likely-- just not enough time.

Your particular case seems very odd, though. He finally got back to you --but without any explanation for the lengthy long stretch of having been incommunicado.

This seems quite unusual, but makes for an intriguing blog,
    Dark Muse.

Keep us posted how all of this develops!

That is the thing which struck me as most strange, when I finally heard from him again he did not address the fact that we have been out of touch for so long and seemed confused by my own remarks upon it.

But if you are interested in hearing the resolution to this littler mystery, I did hear back from him again, and all was explained it is posted here :
