Shame engulfs me
when you say things.
It floods my entire being
and I am never sure
what the trigger might be
I'm a dirty secret
but you know
that I was
a naive little girl
squeezed and fondled
then kissed quiet
by old men.
Hush now baby
Don't cry
Each time you leave
I'm relieved
but afterward
shame continues
to flow
through my
wreckage
I flush thinking
about you
cringe in front
of the mirror
Me
years later
still someone's
dirty secret

Uncomfortable reading in places, very well written

I really enjoyed the reflective nature of this poem. It is a coming to terms with the past kind of poem, even if it is a work of fiction.

this would be an empty place without you delta! always a treat (even though at times it's an uneasy process to follow your lines) to read you.
