Hello,
I would like to read this short story again but am having trouble finding it.
I read this short story years ago in an anthology of World Literary Classics.
The story takes place in a pre-industrial and oriental land.
During the night of a festival in the town, a young man chances to meet an old master.
Captivated by the grace of speech, manner, and prowess in poetry and music of this grandmaster, the young man abandons everything to become a student. The young man is under the sage's tutelage for many seasons, until one day, he finds himself alone.
Eventually, he realizes that he has become a master himself; perhaps even 'The' master.
Is there anyone who recognizes the title and author of this work?
