WORDL CUP GAME:

- All start with 100 Forum coins

- Everyone predicts the result of a game (not the score but the winner or a draw) and bet some Forum coins (which are yet to be named for this year)

- If correct, you earn as many coins as you bet. If not, lose the amount you have bet.

- All bets should be placed before the game starts.

- At the end, whoever has the most coins is the winner.


This will require some track-keeping but we are all adults here (well, mostly) and I expect we are all honest as well so please no-post editing after the results. :D

Fifa were talking about foot width for the 1998 world cup. I was a bit worried as I've got one big fat foot which may have disqualified me from playing for a pub Side. Luckily they didn't bring it in. I think that there would have been a backlash at the club's foot level.

They say much depends on how many "Kyrie Eleison" the players' mothers have said before kick-off, and since there's no reliable way to know this...

Japan v Columbia. Columbia are through Japan need to win and hope
Greece v Ivory Coast. Greece need to win by loads of goals and hope. IC will want to win to be sure.

Happy about Greece!

Ok, fighting off the footy fatigue now.

On the face of it today's matches seem easier to predict. But motivation will be a factor, there are teams that need to win and teams that are already through.

Ecuador v France. Ecuador must win, because Switzerland probably will, but France too good
Switzerland V Honduras. Honduras are the second worst team in the tourney (after our lot). the Swizers need to win.
Bosnia v Iran. Iran have been impressive, but have had no luck. They need to win.
Argentina v Nigeria. A draw would do nicely for both of them.

Now that is as clear as mud I shall bet on..

Brazil may have gone as far as they can, They've been riding their luck too much, and have to rely on Neymar all the time.

That first goal from James Rodriques in the Columbia match was a beauty.

So today it's Netherlands v Mexico and Costa Rica v Greece.

160 on Costa Rica. I don't know how Greece got through, they were down and out till Japan self destructed. Costa Rica have been the surprise of the groups, they were supposed to be the whipping boys but won theirs easily.

It is quite difficult to predict. France have been playing positive attacking football (and have a strong midfield) while Germany have players like Muller, Ozil and Klose. Anything can happen in this quarterfinal! My heart says France and mind says Germany.

What a game the Costa Rica Netherlands game has been in extra time. A bit like the USA Belgium game except it's still nil nil and penalties.
