I work best when I am relaxed.
When I am stressed I begin having serious sleep problems and I can't give the work my best shot when I haven't had any/little sleep last night now can I!

I feel my degree is putting too much pressure on me. A 5,000 word essay on an aspect of Enlightenment in the middle of revision for exams.

Now it seems like I am complaining about nothing here but when I tell you I do History, and that, for theses exams, it is expected of me to cram over 750 years of European history in my head and pour it out on paper inside 8 hours (four 2 hour exams) it seems unreasonable do you not think?

It's possible to accomplish but to gain good marks in all 5 tasks will be extremely tricky.

Like you I work better in a relaxed state, when I can take a step back and do things at a steady pace. When something is important I like to do things one at a time. I generally tend to panic and think that things are not possible when a lot of work is piling up and the deadlines are so close together.

I work better when there is a flurry of activity going on around me but saying that, I guess its relative to what the activity is. I get really busy at work and before I know it, the day is over and then I realise how tired I am. I'm less inclined to do certain things by myself (like housework) unless a pace is set. When it comes to studies, I need marination time coupled with the pressure of a deadline. Creative writing is different. I trust that it will arrive when it's ready!
