tonywalt

a big YAY. There's are reason they were great, before all of this produced/recycled/pretty face music. You have to look at indy bands to find real musiciains.

Primarily keep up with current events by using smartphone/tablets/laptops?

Pendragon
08-11-2015, 10:46 PM
Aye.

Feel tired of all this "I'm offended so you should change." crap? Mind you, I am not referring to any type of legitimate gripe, such as bashing people you disagree with, I'm talking about "I am offended by this" being mouthed while doing something offensive such as desecrating the USA flag!

tonywalt
08-12-2015, 11:51 AM
Aye. I abhor this part of western society as it has become. It's a population that is weak in the knee/politically correct/media driven tech smart but dumming down at a rate that will put the chimpanzees in charge very shortly. (I look forward to such a change, anything is better than this: being driven into the Silent Corner).

The news as shown on CNN and the other crappy channels in North America?

Nay, I never really eat snacks - I only eat wholesome farm to table food that has passed the litmus test as free trade friendly.

Rationalising things to others? (but not to yourself)

Aye. Not always on purpose, though, but just out of a relentless tendency to try and explain everything.

Pendragon
08-12-2015, 10:26 PM
Sorry. Nothing is rational today when the world rewards stupidity

Take the time for a lost kid?

Dark Muse

Give money to street performers?

Pendragon
08-13-2015, 10:06 PM
Depends on the "performance". I've see people in Nashville that should be on stage and are worth my contribution. I've seen others in various cities that I would pay to stop.

Should I fry some onion with the salmon I'm about to prepare?

Lykren

North Star
08-16-2015, 10:59 AM
I'm not very civilized.

Aye to a week at the Met.

Spending a morning trying to decide if there is order among the chaos?
Well, it depends on what one means by order and chaos. Chaos is not completely without order, and chaos is order in a way, as the equal distribution of energy as heat would probably make things quite homogeneous.
Oh, you didn't ask that ;) Well, it's barely afternoon anymore, so I probably wouldn't spend an entire morning thinking about this.

Burning Man

Daredevil stunts?

Dark Muse
09-16-2015, 11:37 AM
Aye, they could be potentially useful for thinning the gene pool.

Darwin Awards

Tyrion Cheddar
09-16-2015, 06:13 PM
Heck, yeah. In a humorless age where laughing at other people's idiocy can often result in heavy sanctions being brought to bear against one's person, often in the form of real or figurative kicks to the naughty bits with the pointed toe of a hobnail boot, I heartily endorse loud, prolonged, nay institutionalized laughing. Just make sure to wear a cup.

Humorless.

bounty
09-20-2015, 10:21 AM

Punk rock ie sex pistols, the clash(earlier stuff)?

Tyrion Cheddar
09-23-2015, 06:00 PM
I must give a hearty Aye to punk rock, although listening to it is not my cup of tea, because of the spirit of it, the "throw a brick through a window" spirit, the way it restored rock 'n' roll to its barebones, raw, honest roots. Furthermore it inspired countless great artists who came later. I'm a huge Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters fan, for example, and punk and hardcore were a massive influence on him. Probably less so on One Direction.

One Direction, dead with several flaming arrows through their several thoraxes.

Dark Muse
09-23-2015, 06:04 PM
Can I shoot one of the arrows? I always thoght it wpuld be cool to shoot a flamming arrow.

Death Metal?

Tyrion Cheddar
09-23-2015, 06:12 PM

Giving a negative review on amazon?

Tyrion Cheddar
09-25-2015, 07:20 PM
Aye. I've come to rely on those reviews pretty heavily in deciding whether to buy something or not. Opening lines like "I wouldn't give this piece o' **** to Heinrich Himmler on the occasion of his descent to the Ninth Ring," more than a few times negative ratings have saved me from purchasing a real turd of a product.

Certain Disney pop hits. And be honest, 'cause I've got thermal night vision goggles and can see you dancing behind those drawn curtains.

new authors keeping story lines alive after the original authors have died?

Pendragon
10-06-2015, 10:36 PM
Aye, provided they do NOT try to revamp the character for new readers. If the new readers have to have the character redone to understand, write them a new character.

Movie Remakes?

tailor STATELY
10-06-2015, 11:03 PM
Aye.............. I've enjoyed many. What with CGI and other tech advances many movies really "pop" where the effects were more flop in past incarnations. (Saw "The Martian" today; give it an 8 out of 10... only paid $5 USD to see. Not too much left on the cutting room floor from the Audible offering)

Sneaking snacks into the theater ? (not that I did).

Tyrion Cheddar
10-07-2015, 06:35 PM

The willingness to use an aluminum baseball bat to crack open the skull of a home invader?

tailor STATELY
10-07-2015, 11:02 PM

Quiet nights without the telly ?

Tyrion Cheddar
10-08-2015, 08:38 PM
Heavens, yes. Aye. Playing forum games, perchance. Or listening to an audiobook while beating back the unredeemed hordes of aliens invading one's encampment in Starcraft. Or, if one is entirely lucky, getting Biblical with some undoubted member of one's preferred sex.

Ostrich jerky. Yes, it's real, and I've et it.

Self-driving cars

Tyrion Cheddar
10-14-2015, 11:46 PM
Aye, self-driving cars! My main man Elon Musk came out with another first this very day, being that Tesla self-driving cars can now change lanes on their own. How do you like them apples? Graphic novels?

Tyrion Cheddar
11-25-2015, 05:33 AM
This is an interesting question. I have read a few graphic novels that I really liked, but usually find them difficult to read because I can't follow the logic of storyboarding, if that's the right term. I never know the order I'm supposed to read them in, or the dialogue, and so gave up trying a long time ago. The same applies to manga, which I really wanted to be able to get into a long time ago, and still might, 'cause I've been way into anime at different times. I live where I don't "have" to rake leaves...last year I did, this year I didn't. so I can say aye and nay.

Aye I guess I have nothing against them but cannot recall the last time I sent one.

ecards?

Aye, e-cards are the savior of us all. When forgetting a birthday, anniversary or memorial for someone's late parrot, an e-card is just the thing, for it whizzes across the internet at light speed, thus concealing to the recipient the fact that you forgot the event, probably forgot them, and in any case can't be arsed.

I say aye, if no other reason than to stir up the controversies associated with them.

I say Aye, if for no other reason than to stir up the controversy that comes from breathing in someone's face afterwards, whereupon they cringe and yell at you. :-0

Young Adult book series featuring a paranormal theme when they're made into movies or TV shows, assuming they're well-made, like Buffy.

I once had a dance partner yell at me when I was with her shortly after eating a tuna and onion on a garlic bagel.

ah, was buffy a collection of books before the tv show? ive never watched buffy, but she seems to have been a success and I like the whole notion of the thing. it seems like going from book to movie is a major stamp of affirmation to the former.

movies with unhappy endings?

Tyrion Cheddar
01-08-2016, 02:00 AM
Gods, yes, and I often wonder why they don't make more. I mean, there have been some truly poignant films owing not least to the fact of a tragic ending. Also, I believe there are one or two famous playwrights in history who established this tradition of tragedy in some plays that became slightly famous. :-0 I realize Hollywood believes the predictable happy ending is necessary to sell tickets, and admittedly we now live in a nation of 'tards whose shuffling gait is remarkably close to the zombies they mentally resemble, but come on, lads, give us some pathos, if you will.

Movies about true events/real people?

There seems to be more and more these days

Tyrion Cheddar
01-11-2016, 09:54 PM
Yes, there are. In principle and occasionally, Aye. The movie American Sniper was very good, for example, and I see Bradley Cooper has a new one out that's also based a real dude, which I'll probably watch. Other times, though, it often seems Hollywood is just out of ideas and is really reaching for something to make a film about.

i might have asked this before, or something similar:

cover versions of some of your favorite songs?

Tyrion Cheddar

Sometimes, sure, Aye, and sometimes a cover version is better than the original. This is often true with great songwriters whose voices send neighborhood cats fleeing, i.e. Dylan.

Agonizingly slow hotel WiFi? Again, I know I've confronted you with a tough one, guys, but dig deep, do the best you can.

Have to say Nay because I don't believe I've been to a hotel since the advent of wifi; though I might have said otherwise if faced with the dilemma. Does that make sense ?

Curry with eggs ?

I don't eat eggs now, but unfortunately when I did I had never tried curry on them, but I don't doubt for a moment id like it, so aye.

(unless curry with eggs is something different than eggs with curry powder?)

pecan pie?

Aye. Stravinsky and Prokofiev in particular.

The thing with all three, though, is that I tend to just listen to recordings of the music instead of seeing staged productions, live or recorded.
