Ah it feels much better than the
Two-dimensional sepia nightmare I had
Everything is vivid and sharp - and
The buildings wonderfully rendered
There! Pwootung! Got him!
Hidden goblins with lasers no match
For my Crackaddler!
Now to turn a dark alleyway, secret sounds
Clues to an imminent attack? Or
False expectation?
Nothing, and nothing
As I inch forward
Peering through every window
And open door, to the rooftops
Behind me and then to scour the manholes
That's where they liked lurking
In the last level - but circumstances have
Changed - taken out unseen with my
Remaining grenades
Now there are Sewer Cretins
Involved, and Wall Climbers

Where are ya ya bastards!

I shout aloud
But too soon!
They're on me!

Twenty from the front!
Ten from on high!
Thirty from the rear!
And I should have done
A better job on the sewers!

Oh yeah? I mock as my health deteriorates
My armour disintegrates
Ammo runs dry

And before I know it I am virtual dead
As the screen smears in splattery red

Reload? it asks

Hell yeah!
I'm hooked!

The way you pace your metrics and indentations as well as your constant, frenzied revelation really adds a quality of paranoia to your speaker. I can't help but read this as someone who is superimposing a video-game into a nervous breakdown! If that isn't the case, I'm sorry. But if it is- wild!

I rarely play these games, but I have in the past, and you described well how they can hook you into replaying over and over again until the break of dawn.
