If I wasn't a poet,
a cowboy maybe,
a marine
with waterproof chow,
I'd tent up my cape,
and choose cherry
or grape,
and not eat this cold hobo stew.

I'm not sure I get the connection between being a poet and having to eat "cold hobo stew" (nor why there's no antecedent to rhyme with stew) but there's a nice punch-drunk humour to this.

There's a half-rhyme with 'chow' in this nonsensical (in the Edward Lear sense) half-limerick.

The 'tent' reference made me think of this poem (http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-silken-tent/), though...
