She lied
but then
so did I.
That was the
agreement
we had.
If we both
accepted
dishonesty
there would be
no messiness
about it.
No staring daggers
across the table
over stale cups
of coffee
smoking cigarettes
like drawing breath
spitting accusations
wondering who
would be/should be
the first to strike
the final blow.
We would believe
everything
because
we believed
nothing.
Still my teeth
click in the bitterness
of my skill.
She is too cold
to get angry
even if I try and
flaunt
she only laughs
with the sound
of breaking glass.
With me
she doesn't
even bother
to try and raise
a questioning
eye.
I tried to start
a fight and
she only rolled
over
picked up the phone
to ask if:

wanted to take me
off her hands
for the night.
Yet we remain
trapped in the
gravitational pull
our bodies individual
planets orbiting
around each other.
Isolated
chilled to the bone
alone but if we
break free
everything might
