We know we are awesome when it comes to spotting a lie ("2 Truths and a Lie" thread) but how good are we when it comes to spotting a truth.

Post 4 lies and one truth for others to guess.

First one is on the house:

The "classics" I have read:

1. War and Peace

2. As I Lay Dying

3. Moby Dick

4. The Ambassadors

5. The Road

If I understand this game, than it is true that you have not read Moby Dick. I think you said that on some Moby Dick discussion somewhere. I think.

A band that I can recite almost every lyric of every song; I have used their songs many times in the Song Title Game -

1. The Who
2. The Smiths
3. The Screaming Blue Messiahs
4. Pink Floyd
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Ooookkaaayyy...

My favorite ice-cream flavour:

Alright here goes mine: three lies, one truth:

I've used a quotation from which of the following authors as my signature?:

1. Ralph Waldo Emerson

2. Ovid

3. J. O'Barr

4. Grant Morrison

I'm going to guess...J. O'Barr

Good guessin' Bien! J. O'Barr was the creator of the The Crow (a great early '80s Indie comic [and, yes, a stupid movie]) and the line I used is this: "This isn't hell. But you can see it from here".

You're up!

Madhuri
05-16-2010, 09:28 AM
#1 is my guess...

Pendragon
05-17-2010, 08:29 AM
I have

1) Never published poetry
2) A dog named "Izzy"
3) Two children
4) No memory of my dad
5) Never been drunk in my life

Well the answer was #2, My dog is called Izzy which is short for Isabelle.

I have published over 100 poems. I have three children, not two. I reconciled with my dad 5 years before his death. We all have been wild, rebellious teenagers and I've not only been drunk but stoned on drugs.

Now let's see.

I have read:
1) Atlas Shrugged
2) Watership Down
3) Pride and Prejudice
4) Cannery Row
5) On Golden Pond

Good luck and remember, four of them are lies, really and truly

DanielBenoit

Why do you have to be listing all of those damn northeastern/East-coast cities? Why not just make it easier and add Honolulu? I feel safer assuming you've never been their :p

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say NYC, because I've never been there either and yet have lived in New York for six years.

The Comedian
05-24-2010, 08:12 PM
I'll say Orlando.

5 -- because JW took 6. *shakes his fist*

DanielBenoit
05-26-2010, 11:10 AM
2; Because you were an international super-spy, but are now on the run from the law because you revealed some secret some top-secret information to someone, and now must run before the Russians get you (because they think you're a double-agent) or the FBI (because they think you're a traitor).

(Oh and the reason why you can't visit any other countries comes in when the two world superpowers, U.S. and Russia, demand that the rest of the world closes off its boarders to you. Switzerland refuses, as does a little unknown community outpost on the shores of Antarctica, which is where you are right now.)

Theme: At the office

1. At work I sometimes wear headphones, but don't play any music or anything through them, just to keep people bothering me with their requests for "help".

2. I have a mini-model of the Millenium Falcon, clearly displayed, on my desk.

Sounds to me like number 5 is the truth.

Nope, this sadistic Barbie doll accessory was actually an invention of my mother's when she was a teenager. It was good for me, because every time she nagged at me for drawing leaves and vines all up my legs in gel-pen or tying dozens of raven feathers in my bright blue hair I could always respond with "well, at least I don't have a bunch of tortured human heads around my waist."

You got it. Parrots scare the bejezus out of me. I also can't be in a gym full of people playing with basketballs.

I'll say #4 - you like sweets, but couldn't live on just them...

I actually just straight-up hate sweets. I like maybe one bite of chocolate, and then anything after that makes me feel sick.

as for #3, it is a concern but I'm not too worried.

I actually got it because I had a seagull come at my head once, and figured it would probably be the same with a parrot. I've also been hit on the head with a basketball, so I'm not too fond of them either.

Here go my 4 lies and 1 truth:

1. I teach high school biology.
2. My favorite hobby is gardening.
3. I've never travelled out of the state.
4. I used to play the piano and basketball with frequency when I was younger.

Pendragon is correct. I was a teenager and what I really wanted was to go back in time. I thought if I sat very, very still and concentrated, maybe with the force of my mind I could make it happen. After sitting still for a very long while I realized that I was looking, from a place near the ceiling, at myself sitting in the chair. The sensation only lasted for a short time and I have not tried to replicate it, but neither have I forgotten it.

I only wish I was fluent in Spanish. I can read a fair amount of elementary Spanish, however. And I can curse in it if necessary. :D

I do not kayak. I do go on long, leisurely walks, however.

I have never had a day named after me, but my mother did. She was the curator of a historical mansion in our town and did it for a number of years. When she retired they had a day in her honor.

I like Emily Bronte, but she's not a favorite.
