In case you didn't know, England won the World Cup in 1966.
You won't be laughing when they win it in 2054.:biggrin5:

They need it. We brought it up after the French match back in november and FIFA (AKA Blatter) said no way. Football doesnt need it. Clearly from watching the games over the last few weeks its safe to say they do...
Every week in the premiership there are dodgy decisions by referees. The games often turn on them, and the pundits often discuss the decisions. It seems like a no-brainer to me. As I'm writing this I hearing the commentator on about an official's mistake which let in the first Argentinian goal. (Mexico and Argentina are almost scrapping).
Back in the 2006 World Cup, England had an exciting young striker - I can't remember his name - and I thought for sure he would be here in 2010. I think he was only 18 years old. What ever happened to him? Why didn't he make the club?
That would be Theo Walcott
http://www.arsenal.com/first-team/players/theo-walcott
He was in Fabio's squad, but hasn't shown the form this year through the premiership and in training for England. He'll still be good for the next one. He's probably glad he missed this time around!

Yes thanks Paul, I'm OK about it. Got the interest and money to look forward too and I can enjoy my opera next week without having to run into the nearest backstreet London pub for the second half anyway.
Technology for me also is a no brainer, I've said it time and time again, but Sepp disagrees with everyone in the world so they we are.
On with the show. Argentina look so sharp and would have cut us badly, even worse than 4-1.

I woulda loved for Portugal to score in the last minute, right after Spain took Xabi Alonso out of the game. Maybe it's those crazy side burns that some of them wear. They also look smaller than some of the other teams and the way the run around they look like crazy animal diablos. Ever see the cartoon character Tasmanian Devil.

Now I'm jealous of all the people that get to be there... even if most of the games have made me want to commit su. Could you imagine being lucky enough to actually BE THERE? LIVE? I might pass out thinking about it.
Confession: I watch the games in other languages. I prefer not to understand the announcers. I think the refs are doing the same too, because clearly they're not speaking football! Okay, that was rude. I'll stop now.

And who does Dani Alves think he is? Shooting from 30 or 40 meters all the freaking time, yet he can't even shoot. Seriously he can't even kick thirty meters far without the ball hitting the ground..
15 more minutes, Brazil can get back even with ten players. This is gonna be an intense finish! ATTACK!!

Good place for me to leave this game as well since I have no teams to support anymore.
I had predicted Spain to win the Cup before the start but they have not shown much presence so far, till it is too late. As it is I don't think Spain deserves to win it and I don't want NL to win it for some reason.

I am glad Spain won the Cup; they played better than Holland on the day. However, as far as finals go, it was not an exciting match.

I don't get this business about the ball; I understand its the same ball as that used in the Bundeswhateveritis Pemier League in Germany?
I also noted that there appeared to be very few long kicks in the little I watched.
Was it just an effect of the atmosphere in RSA - the Jo'burg and Pretoria games were obviously at altitude. Were the Durban and Cape Town games any different in ball action?
Has anyone got one of these balls?
I do feel sorry for the Dutch, they were righteously annoyed at being ripped off by an incompetent referee. What the hell was he watching during Holland's free kick? The ball deviated a mile off the German's shoulder and instead of a Dutch corner, we get a Spanish goal.
From an independent perspective, the Spanish probably had a much better party than Holland would've managed anyway, so that made it worth it to a neutral!
Just wait for two years and you'll have to learn RRRRRRRRRRugby!

The ball did some very odd things. Goals from free kicks are usually a feature of the world cup, they were rare this time. The ball sailing high and wide is an abiding image of this tournament.
This may be journalistic nonsense, but..
