Is there a perfect and radiant maiden
Waiting inside of heaven’s gate?
Waiting in the shadows of heaven’s mighty gate
Weeping in the shadows for
A love that has gone away?
Do her tears form snowflakes
As they touch her heart of ice?
Do the snowflakes fall upon
Mortals in carnal delight?
Is there respite from winter’s icy grip?
Is there a balm in Gilead?
To soothe her sore eyes
Eyes that have grown sore from weeping
Eyes that have only seen the truth
Therefore have seen that truth always dies
Is there a song sung by the angels
That can bare witness to her laments?
Of the lost moments of the motion of time
That once came and then left
Upon the wings of angels who now torment her soul?
Is there a stately raven
Who quoths the words of the night
Whose fancy causes mortals to smile
At their friend who haunts their side
At the creature who haunts their smiles
Is there a perfect and radiant maiden
Waiting inside of heaven’s gate?
Waiting for the moment of complete evaporation
For the promise of eternity
For the saint and the demon and one sweet kiss?
Oh hark all ye scholars and intellects
Greater than mine
Come, I beg and beseech thee
Answer this question of mine
Is this maiden still waiting
As the clouds turn to grey?
Or was her love stolen away
The day the blood stained the cross
On Calvary’s holy stage?
Waiting inside of heaven’s gate?
Waiting in the shadows of heaven’s mighty gate
Weeping in the shadows for
A love that has gone away?
Do her tears form snowflakes
As they touch her heart of ice?
Do the snowflakes fall upon
