The In - Between

Short poem I wrote about my grandfather whom I never got the chance to meet.

To the Grandfather I never knew, this is what I think of you:
From the stories of old told 'round the fire so late,
To the pictures that frame your life, until your soul did escape.
In my own imagination, your still livin' on, just down the road of an unexpected fate.

So easy it is to sit and wonder,
What like would be like if you awoke from your eternal slumber.
But you saw the lightning and heard the thunder,
And as life rolls on, your rocks still tumble.

In my dreams do I wish to see,
The in-between and what will never be.
You reached the summit, and caught a glimpse of the Sea.
What the past has not brought, the future may still bring.
