I haven't read many 'gory' books. Years ago I read Jurassic Park and seem to remember it being quite gory. It's the novel the films were based on but I'm pretty sure it was more exciting than the films. Wish I could help more but I just can't think of many books meeting your description I've read.

Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. It's not reeaallyy gory, but very interesting.

Try reading Bukowski's collection of stories "This Way to the Gas Station, Ladies and Gentlemen and Other Stories"..

It's "This way for gas, ladies and gentlemen."
But yes, it is a great read and I remember being misled by the title and thinking something along the lines of "oh sh**"

American Psycho is probably the most graphic/violent/twisted thing I ever read.

Wow, yes it is. Tadeusz Borowski I'm sorry I missed that.

But anyway, another suggestion would be Fight Club or In Cold Blood.

In Cold Blood isn't gory, it's just very thrilling and disturbing

from what I remember the murder part is, though yes, it is only a small part of and happens in the middle of the book.

Great, guys,

I see I am not the only person who likes reading the odd - weird book. I look forward to reading some all of the suggestions made. But with this list I probably won't have time for anything else. :)

Thanks again.

Depends on what you consider "gore"
I mean, there was blood and they got shot in the head. That's not "gore" to me.

Murdering and baking two brothers into a pie, and then having their mother eat it?

Gosh Mayneverhave,

That should do it... It certainly is gory. Is that from a particular book? I wouldn't mind reading that.

Hi Lima,

I am having trouble finding American Psycho at my local library. May have to go into the city library to get it. Mind you I am always there. Anyway thanks.

These are all great ideas guys, but I am having a terrible time finding them in my local library. Actually I haven't even found one. I ended up borrowing some boring book... It is putting me to sleep. Mind you it isn't the genre I was looking for, (more the 'whodunit' kind of thing) so I guess I only have myself to blame.

The only gory books the local library stocks is Vampire one's. So looks like I will just have to head into town to find what I am looking for.
