Hello all!
My roommate and I have been pondering for the past hour to no avail- where does the character "Stryker" come from? We envision black, possibly a dark but inherently kind character, but any of this may be inaccurate. Do you know of a novel with such a character? Not the protagonist, but a supporting character, we believe. Thanks for your help!

Perhaps I did not find the correct result, but, searching on google.com, I found a character named "Stryker" in Guy de Maupassant's novel Le Horla.
Does this ring a bell?

You know when I read that it felt remarkably familiar. Strycker or something right? I don't know if this is right but let me hazard a guess- you're a Discworld fan? In Pratchett's latest "Going Postal" there's a bad guy called William Stryker who is an assassin sent by the bad guy to get Moist von Lipwig but instead he attacks the old postman. I think Stryker dies and I think he was a bat or something weird too.
