hello, to all of those wonderful and slightly strange people ;) , who have read this truly intriguing novel.... the point to this thread is that I wanted to ask you magnificent persons if you could tell me what themes you found present in the novel thanks a lot!

hey there again littleNic....if i may; i think you'll find more takers to your question (i havent read the book yet) if you would first offer up your own understanding of the themes in the book. i have not been around here too long but i have seen some students who look like theyre using the site to get other folks to do their homework. your giving your own thoughts would be a great way to avoid that...

oh ok thanks for the advice
well i think the main theme is change and transformation .... which is why the cocoon in the victems throats is so significant...... and the reason for Jame making a girl suit....it could also link with the fact that Dr. Lecter helps starling get over her traumatic past(not quite sure though)

Clarice's identity-formation in terms of negative father-figure Hannibal Lecter, positive father-figure Jack Crawford, and the specter of her dead father.....not quite sure it is a major theme tho

what do you think?
