Before trying to sleep each night,
I peel off my skin,
Carefully fold it,
Gentle it into a cedar chest,
Sit down on the edge
Of the bed...and cry.

The salt tears' flow
Stings my raw flesh,
As I wait...in vain,
For catharsis.

Tremors of subduction,
tectonic plates.

Surrogate subterranean anger.

Sorrowful sea-salted tears.
Tsunami,
drowning all sorrow.

Man's guilt,
in geoscience hid,
revealed...

What was pure,
by touch, defiled!

What was noble,
by inaction, spurned!

What moved the heart,
now dead, or dying!

A promise of Eden, never earned...
