See how would have livned through epochs if we never had religions. The first and foremost thing I want to point to is we do not have to live under a veil of fear.

The biggest fear has been caused by ideological issues. Think and speak honestly now in this millenium the biggest fear is caused only by religious issues.

Yet we, so called intellectuals stick to religions. Why should we stick to it after knowing the fact that religions divide us as individuals and fragments humanity.

We are one organic whole, all are universally one being despite our different faiths and ideologies. I want to urge all to feel universally spirited and united not religiously divided beings.

Religions have crippled us and lest us abandon them and rise above petty religious divisions and feel that we are equals.

Religions simply lead us to slavery and in fact religions have been always tools of tyrants for spreading their ideologies and propping up their establishments.

Let us be cleasned of such moribund ideologies.

Everyone is a god unto himself and to live and let others live is the greatest religion and no religions do exist beyond it.

Hi Blaze.

I was just wondering if you have any interest in discussing literature. I have noticed that there's a lot of pretty cool threads around here about different writers and different works, ranging from poems to short stories to plays and novels, and ranging from the ancients to the moderns. Your input on some of these threads I'm sure would be most appreciated. I have frequented many philosophy and theology forums and would be happy to provide you some links where some of your thoughts might be more relevant. Just let me know. In the meantime, I very much look forward to reading some thoughts of yours with respect to the many wonderful discussions that are actually taking place about literature around here.

i agree that religion is an negative or i would even say a weapon of "brainwashing", yet i also believe that religion can be a positive. though it dose blind those it touches there are many religions who teach an unerversal message of Coexistance and peace so i do not agree with fully removing religion. I would rather someone be blinded and help out there fellow man than, blunted by reality and sent into a seen of pointlessness and extreamist actions.... also excuse my spelling errors.

I believe if we had no religion, humanity would have progressed faster. Religion has only hindered us in our progress. Also, without religion, we would have fewer reasons for wars and a lot of children would sleep safer at night.

But what if humankind's perfect life is one of surrender and service to God?

Religion has been the cause of many terrible things throughout history. It has also been the driving force behind many great and beautiful things. When people say the world would be a better place without religion I have to throw up a B.S. card. We'd find another reason to hate each other and go to war, that's what we do. Have you ever been to a professional sporting event? It demonstrates the "us vs. them" mentality that is a cornerstone of human nature. People will always find a reason to hate, whether its because you're a Christian and I'm a Jew, or because you're a Red and I'm a Blue... (GO CHELSEA!!)

Servitude to humanity is still better or if can maintain harmony in soiciety through service or our selfless efforts it is definitely something better than praying.

God is something we can do nothing other than haviing faith. We can not rely on any godheads we see in this world. Most of them are fake gurus.

Therefore service to humanity is much preferable to service to something baselss or abstract things like god, heaven, afterlife and the like.

I am not an atheist at all. God is sometning beyond imagination, I am not a materalist. I believe in somethninng universal.

I believe in elevating our minds and evolving. I do not subscribe to the religions and beliefs in something that disrupts the harmony we have rather than proppping it up.

Nikolai, I know you are evolving and your ideas are subtle yet I have a different bent of mind.

Yet I subscribe to most, of not all your ideas.

Modern history reveals that advancements in science and rationality has coincided with decline of religion. The inevitable consequence has been longer, healthier lives, higher quality of life, and social progress. One is compelled to wonder how much further we would have progressed if religion hadn't interfered as it did.

I was reading through this thread, and your post struck me the most...

Progressed to what?

If by "religion" you mean a slavish devotion to one church or idea then I would agree that it has been a hinderence. If by "religion" you mean belief in God or a Supreme Being, it has done nothing wrong. When people forsake God for a system of belief, then they go into extremes where anything that doesn't fit their idea is wrong. When people trust in God, they will be more apt to listen when new things come along, for they believe that God is the one that allows men to find things out... :)
