View Full Version : Living on surreal fears

Hustling and bustling of the hectic routine life is sometimes suffocating. I desire sometimes, at least for some moment, to find a sheer silence to escape from my feverish scheme, to ruminate on to perceive the essence of life. Sometimes, before I slide into the bed for sleep, I worry a lot about tomorrow’s uncertainties, big questions hanging in front of me, and there are still no plans fabricated yet for tomorrow's survival and fears shiver me extremely to the point from where my body functions barely. There's still a pile of things to be done and there are several twisted and tangled questions staggering in my head; questions about life and death mostly of which are unspoken and concealed, and they are much more traumatic than the nightmares to me. I ponder on and on to find out what in this life is really missing. Myriad sleepless nights and afflicting dreams suffered and only the ghastly nights know better.

I sometimes kill time doing nothing but listen to the sound of silence, or mumble with my own reflection, or gaze upon my stretched shadow that is comfortably lying on the floor. I breathe deeply and sway with the melody, and thanks to god that I'm still alive and kicking. I wonder seeing myself in the framed photos that are hanging on the wall. Time after time, they all remind me of what I used to be, but enflame my surreal fears of the past. And the reflection, enframed on the mirror, is just continuously transfiguring itself with the time and positions, and I just watch it silently everyday and wait for tomorrow to come. One could see the reflection of every single moments lived while looking at the mirror.

You have portrayed a picture of the reality almost if not all, people live in, particularly in mega cities. There life is defined by success. You are labeled by the job you do. Man is existentially dependent on consumption. Or more bluntly speaking, man is commodiously looked at.

Yes man's existence is surrealistic. Fortunately in a mountainous country like Nepal where the pace of life is slow and steady things go differently. There blows the air of liveliness herein, a country not mired by the blood of civilization.

Dib, we have of late a case of violence in our country but this is a matter of exception and I bet peace prevails here in this beautiful Himalayan country.

Oh, I got a little swayed, off track.

I like the expression, a depiction of the turmoils people undergo in a surreal world.

WHY?

If living means just to die,
and dying means to live just an another life
or disappear from this planet forever,
why on this earth we're rambling and gambling?
I ask myself before I end my day,
everyday,
emphasizing,
"What really is the essense of life?"

Karma of the stray dogs

In the scorching sun, poor stray dogs with their pups, wearing a frighted face, were seen scratching the odds and ends in the corner of the street. Their famine coerced them to chew something from the debris in despite of appalling fume which was emanating in the sizzling air. All that matters to them was sustenance for their livelihood and nothing else more than that. Neither the intense heat nor the stench of the junk could cease them from devouring the scattered leftovers.

Routinely, they drift here and there as a vagabond to search for food merely to survive and they don't even have any dwelling place to protect themselves from the natural calamities. Neither they have any desires nor they have any fantasies, and neither they have any reasons to live nor they have any priorities in their pitiful life.

If there are rebirth and karma like spiritual beliefs which are are written in the sacred writings, are their current existence the reflection of karma of their prior existence?

Bone Dry Situation

In the water galore nation, most of the people in suburbs are still living dry. Only filthy rich people in suburbs or the people in the urban area are privileged. Otherwise, poverty-stricken people or ordinary people are living high and dry in suburbs. Even the basic necessities don't come easy here, not even a drop of water comes free.

Several damn days in dryness petrified the lifestyle. On the edge of abyss, and in a miasma of despair, what one could do is to cling onto a little more patience. Ebon sky roared nevertheless refused to rain. A friend in need is a friend indeed but right friends seemed out of line in the time of need.

Like the thirsty soil longs for the rain, everyone's craving avidly for the sky to shower. Begone drought! Tis everyone's desire!
