Not sure; should ask Stanislaw as he was the one who promised the viewing ;) On the other hand, we will never find out unless we 'view' I guess :D

No. There's a "View results" option beneath the poll.

subterranean

realism i suppose...joyce wrote stories based on what he experienced in his daily lives and things happened around him..
No problemo Chris..:)

Jude the Obscure -Thomas Hardy *
The Idiot - Fyodor Dostoevsky *
A Space Oddessy -Arthur C. Clarke
Process -Kafka
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man-James Joyce *
Vanity Fair
Sub, I hope now you get what I meant in previous post.
By reading comments about the works that are available in this site I decided to vote for James Joyce's one. "Jude the Obscure" sounds quite sad, Kafka and Dostoyevsky aren't my favorites.

Grrrrr!
Everytime I encourage people to vote, someone is voting for "the Artist"! This is turning into American election results. Kerry tried to bring people to poll stations so hard but it seems like they all voted for Bush! :D

he-he... Sorry, Scherezade, honestly I didn't get even who's the author of "Vanity fair".
Sub, it's getting funny. Ok, I will try once more, then I wil give up... the symbol "*" in front of books means that "idiot", "Jude of Obscure", "a portret..." is available on this site. English books aren't for sale where I live. I have no time to go to the library . That's why the "*" would help me to get which book is for me, which one is not.

Oh no, haven't read it and it is quite hard work by most accounts. I hope I get time to read it so that I can try and be a positive contributor
I've been nasty recently, but I have forgiven myself and moved on!

I think people are voting for the book that they think will win so when it does they can say, "look at me I knew it, thats why I am on the winning side".
Now lets beat them vote for the idiot or space odessy, lets beat them down!!! :smash:

This isn't a guessing contest! It's all about which book you would like to read. If people are voting for any other reason, I say 'Blah!', Sir.

the thing is, i dont see any '*'...:)
agree with you sche...we shouldn't vote just because the book is on the lead...
and people if you dont know yet, if you click the number of votes you can see the names of people who voted for the book..so there's no escape, if your chosen book become the winner later, your participation is a MUST in the discussion thread later or less....there'll be 'social' pusnishment later :) :smash:

I didn't vote, but if the book this month is Portrait..., I'm in. I read this in college for a lit theory class.
The only problem is when I was 21 years old, I put more focus on the osmosis of alcohol and attention from girls, rather than literature. I'd love to actually "read" this book.
How long do we have to read it, when do we start? (This is my first time) ...I am a Forum Book Club vestal. Are there any initiation activities?

I bought the book last night.
Where is the thread for discussion...? I'll gladly kick things off.
I read the introduction last night. I purchased the Oxford World's Classic edition. For anyone who has yet to get the book, this has a great introduction, which gives some quality in-depth information on key themes and such.
