My name is the Sweedish spelling of an Austrian name, so there's a bit of debate about it's meaning! However, the one I usually go with is: Birgitta: place of strength or stonghold.

The meaning of the name Anna is gracious, merciful
The origin of the name Anna is Hebrew, originally a form of HANNAH.

In Finnish "Anna" is an imperative form of verb "to give"
Anna (minulle)! Give (me)!

OK, here we go: Claes is a Swedish version of Nicolaus (of Greek origin), which I find pretty amusing when you connect the fact that I was born on Christmas Day, with the fact that the Greek Saint Nicholaus over the years have turned into the Anglo-Saxon Santa Claus: Father Christmas.

As it happens, my daughters name (Nicole) also originates from Nicolaus :D

I'm pretty sure lily of the valley is symbolic of death. That's what I've always heard anyway. So, if that's true, I guess the two meanings fit.

Edit: OH! My name is a funny one. I get all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff.

One of my English teachers in high school was supposed to be named Nicholas, but when he was born on Christmas eve, his mother decided she didn't want his name connected to the holiday. The name she picked? Christian.

My name, Katrina, is the Finnish/Greek/Swedish/No one seems to know form of Katherine, thus officially meaning pure, but permanently connected to that little weather occurrence a few years back.

My name is Frances, apparently that is supposed to mean free woman in some sort of something. Suppose that's alright.
You may like to know what I found:

Frances is the feminine form of Francis, which in turn is the English form of the Late Latin name Franciscus which meant "Frenchman". Now, according to one source (free online dictionary), the word French itself comes from Old English Franca, related to Old High German Franko, perhaps from the name of a typical Frankish weapon (in Old English franca means "javelin").

So we could say (maybe) that our Frances is a javelin :D

I used to hate my name. I didn't think it fit me at all, and still don't, except now I usually go by Kate instead of Katrina. Okay well Daniel is just one of those boring Western Judeo-Christian names, but I've got somewhat of an interesting story behind it: My mom being somewhat devoutly Catholic when I was born wanted to call me Daniel in reference to the Book of Daniel. My dad wanted to call me Daniel because it was the name of his best friend who died in a motorcycle accident and was also the name of his favorite football player Dan Marino (I latter one is doubtful lol).
