Names of Songs

A little birdie once told me,
“Songs have names, you know.”
“People have names,” I said,
“as well.”
The little birdie replied,
“But people are unimportant.”
“That is true,” I agreed, “That is true.”

The little bird fluttered away.
Little did he know
of the world around him.
But much he knew
of the happiness of a song.

Little birds are happier than me,
as are squirrels and field mice.
They don’t need to know the world I see.
They don’t need to know the horrors I’ve seen.
They just need to know the names of songs,
and they are content to be.

A poem I wrote. I like it. Tell me what you think. :D

I think it's a delightful bit of whimsy.

But do the birds and animals face horrors of their own? Reverse the whimsy and what do you come up with in their world? Nice poem, mon ami !

But do the birds and animals face horrors of their own?[

Yes, that's a good question. Despite of my 'yes' for this question, I like your poem. It's nice and makes up a light read with a very good rhythm and rhyme! :)

Thank you for the compliments, everyone.

"Whimsy" seems to be the popular word to describe it.

But do the birds and animals face horrors of their own?

Perhaps the horrors they face is soothed by the names of songs ;)
