Um, no actually. :) He blinds himself with his mother's hairpins after she kills herself. Ulysses is a Roman word for the Greek 'Odysseus', the cunning and crafty hero who wants to return home to his beloved Ithaca after the Trojan war. 'Oedipus' is also Greek.
