Never. I stand 5'6'' and weigh roughly 120 lbs.; in other words, I would not survive 30 seconds. I have a few funny stories, however, of how I have gotten out of fights, avoiding them altogether, even when 'all seemed lost,' so to speak. :D
Along the same lines, would you 'fight' or 'flight' in a serious altercation, let us say, if someone attempted to rob you on the street?
kilted exile
01-22-2009, 09:56 PM
It may depend on who was trying to rob me & what I had at that point in time.
There would be no running definitely (if someone with a knife wants my loose change, they can have it - but I dont do turning tail & running) If it was some dumb kid I would probably smack him in the head. would you hate ugly before knowing beauty?
Good question. I suppose one must have intense feelings towards ugliness before having intense feelings towards beauty, but that does not necessarily say I would have to hate ugliness in order to have a great passion for beauty. In terms of beautiful or ugly people, no, I do not even like to dislike people, let alone hate them; in terms of beauty/ugliness of objects . . . hmmm . . . sure, but my hate does not necessarily have to mean I wish its destruction - the sweet does not come without the sour.
Same question.

A question on my mind while listening to The Beatles: would you sacrifice Paul McCartney if it meant John Lennon could return alive and well? What about Ringo Starr for George Harrison?
Chava
01-24-2009, 01:28 PM
Hmm, yes, maybe, i don't know. Bottomline of it: I'm hippy enough to love John Lennon, but who letting him live might eventually have let him change the image and icon he became. What if Lennon became a fat, grumpy old man, who sat in his back yard, waving his pipe at kids as he tells them to cut their hair?
*edit* it's a would you question....
Would you recognise your own dogmatism?

Would you sacrifice your appearance for the loss of knowledge? Would you recognise your own dogmatism?
Okay, I suppose I should answer the 'would you' question.
I could doubtfully recognize my own dogmatism; I could pick it out in a crowd of beliefs, but probably could not classify it, relate it fully to others, or enroll it into other dogmas - basically it sounds a lot like the kid at elementary school who smells funny.

As my uni courses are based on delivering reports as a group, it is inevitable that some people get around without doing anything. I've helped several in that way, unintentionally. However, they get blacklisted by most people sooner or later, and now, in semester four they are not abole to find groups at all, and they will probably fail at the exams since they've never had to work on their own! would you rather get free airfare anywhere for 10 years or all the books you can read for 10 years(no stockpiling - read one, you get one)?
Good question. Not to go on a tangent, or anything, but Emerson wrote of this at great length - explore the world, or explore the mind? He postulated that some people travel for the unconscious purpose of distraction from one's self, a bit Freudian, I know - coping mechanisms of the projection of unconscious desires to the outer world, but how would life seem as a shut-in recluse?
Honestly, I would choose the books, upon the condition that I could own them after reading them.
Same question.
subterranean

I'd choose the free airfrare. I've been reading books about places all over the world since I was a kid and my mind often went wild for wanting to visit them. So far, I've been to 20 countries and I want to see more of the world :).
Would you lie for money (assume it's a huge amount of money)?

To what length would you go to see someone happy?
To endless depths, especially for someone I love, whether intimately or Platonic (family, friends). I have, however, committed a few random acts of kindness; about a month ago, during an awful snowstorm that lasted nearly a week, a homeless couple who had gotten their sleeping bags, blankets, and extra clothes stolen, sat outside in the snow, begging for any spare change. Feeling awful for them, I took them into a nearby restaurant, bought them some take-out food, then to a hostel, and bought them a room, a few nights' worth, to stay out of the cold, until the snow was expected to melt.

How far would you go to have the best Halloween costume/dress-up/impression?
Chava
02-10-2009, 06:12 PM
Been there done that, I've payed, I've sowed, I've glued body parts to myself, I love dress ups, face paints, and all that. :) *runs to find her tiger costume* Deep down, I'm just a little kid who likes to think she is all those things in her dress up box.
What costume would you choose?
I have not dressed up for Halloween in quite some time, but I remember one costume I put together, in my high school days, took a lot of effort; I jokingly dressed up as a hermaphrodite - the whole right side of my body male, the left side female. On my right side, I wore a white buttoned-up shirt, black slacks, and a dress shoe; having cut the shirt and pants vertically in half, I sewed half of a white and pink flowered dress to the left, knee-length, thick white hose (so I would not have to shave my left leg), and white female dress shoes. At the time, having had somewhat long hair, on the right side, I let it flow freely, and a friend of mine braided the left side; additionally, she did the make-up on the left side of my face, and I grew a bit of facial hair on my right side.
It took hours!
As my costume certainly did look scary, would you ever put this much effort into a Halloween costume?
Chava
02-12-2009, 03:01 PM
Mono, that's really awesome! And for answer, i absolutely would put that much effort into a costume! I'd even cut my hair 'for kicks'. I know of a little house in the centre of copenhagen, and the wonderful wacky people who live there have theme parites on a regular basis, We've turned the house into a major pirat ship, a graveyard, a ball from the colonies, you mention it, next time it's "a delayed goodbye party", for a minister who died decades ago. I love it, and always make great effort to dress up, and am currently known as "The Queen of the ball, in the house of dead children" House of dead children being the name of our little castle.
Would you stay to clean up after a party of over 50 young people?
That sounds like quite the party! If I created some of the mess, and cared anything for the thrower of the party, I would probably help at least a little, even if the party thrower kinda-sorta asked for it. Personally, I could not fit that many people in my apartment comfortably; my former neighbors, however, who got evicted last week, could, and did it on a regular basis.
If you chose to get involved with some sort of movie, would you prefer the role of starring actor/actress, supporting actor/actress, director, or writer, and why?
Chava
02-12-2009, 03:11 PM
Knowing me I'd be trying to do all parts. I'd have to go for director then, 'cause I'd be allowed to play all the parts and essentially make all the decisions.
Would you trust your intuition?
From day-to-day decisions, I do constantly; at work, only occasionally will I trust my 'gut feeling.' I suppose it depends on the circumstances.
Same question, for lack of thinking of anything original. :D
Chava
02-12-2009, 03:16 PM
I rarely do, and always regret it when I don't.
Would you throw a book in the trash?
I have before, but only because it had gotten accidently doused and soaked with coffee - it meant little to me, regardless.
If you craved coffee, and a respected independent coffeehouse existed several blocks away, but a corporate chain coffeehouse existed one block away, which would you go to?

The independant. I'm a creature of habit.

John Lennon (solo days), Lou Reed (Velvet Underground), or Bjork (just because she seems so unique!).
Remiscient of another question on another thread, if you could hang out with one musician for a night for drinks, who would you choose?
Chava
02-12-2009, 03:40 PM
Oh can I change my mind from before!!! For both anyway, it would have to be Sebastian, a fabulous Danish song writer/singer, and a pretty awesome guy. Would really like to hang out with him. (I'll send you some lyrics at some point Mono!)
Would you take a job, knowing you'd spend the day in the street getting yelled at, getting things thrown at you, just because you believed in the cause?
We have a lot of those people here in Portland (Green Peace, Children International, OSPIRG, etc.), and they really annoy the hell out of me, but I respect their passion. If I did, I would really have to believe in the cause, perhaps something on book censorship, medical ethics, or something along those lines.
If you had acting or singing talent (not saying that you do not;)), would you want to act/sing in a movie, a stageplay, a musical, or an opera?
Chava
02-12-2009, 03:46 PM
If I had the Talent, I would love to live it, I have a few friends who are actors/singers, and their company is always awesome, and the wrecked, poor, desperate lifestyles, though immediatly unappealing, is loaded with a nostalgic romantic feel.
Would you dare to gamble everything on a single talent?
If I did not have my full-time job as a critical care nurse, I have no doubt I would exist as the classic starving-artist type. I do not think I would - that sounds like a lot to gamble, and I would not call myself a risk-taker.

I have thought about it, having had a number of piercings in the past (that have slowly disappeared over the years), but cannot decide on something so much more permanent than a piercing.
If you got a tattoo, would you have it somewhere easy to cover with clothing, or more out in the open?
Chava
02-12-2009, 04:01 PM
Easy to cover. I plan to do a lot of travelling and work in cultures that have really negative associations with tatoos.
Same question.
A place easy to cover, for sure. One of the very few places I have thought of lies on the exterior aspect of both lower legs.

Would you consider yourself the leader or the follower in the group of your friends?
papayahed
02-12-2009, 07:33 PM
Probably the leader.
Same question.
It depends on the circumstances, but usually a follower - my best friend does a fantastic job at arranging things, making reservations for get-togethers, making sure everyone has a fun time. I can play the leader from time to time, but my shyness tends to get in the way. :p

Yet, if I did own an umbrella, sure, I could get a red one. ;)
Oddly enough, I have seen these, but would you own a square umbrella?
Chava
02-14-2009, 05:01 PM
No, it seems unpractical. Besides I already own three umbrellas, and always forget to bring them.
What, would you be frightened of?
Water - a deathly fear, likely from having almost drowned once upon a time.:eek2:
Same question.
Chava
02-14-2009, 05:06 PM
I'm not scared of anything. I lie. The one thing I have recurring nightmares about is being in a situation where I loose the ability to communicate. Where there is no mutual language, and no similar body language. Scares the living daylights out of me. Blame the Syrian military and their machine guns ;)
Would you consider yourself rational?
Most of the time, yes. I tend to keep a lot of my thoughts to myself, but consider myself radically opinionated. When I feel very passionate about something, I can get a bit extreme and Utopian, but I always have open ears for others.
Would you consider yourself more of an analytical thinker or holistic thinker?

If you chose to donate to some agency, would you donate money to the environment or poor families?

But I already do both and more..? If I were to cut down as I already have due to financial restraints, it would probably be on the environment side.. (I can't help it, I'm a people person, and I could rationalise a multitude of reasons for why helping people will help the environment)
Would you describe people in terms of good or bad?
I consider myself an optimist, but first impressions definitely mean a lot to me. Sure, I can seem a bit judgmental at times, and it can get quite difficult to sway my opinion of someone, for better or worse.
Have you ever taken the Meiers-Briggs test? If so, what results did you get?
Chava
02-22-2009, 05:13 PM
Usually it is ENFP:
Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeler, Perceiver
ENFPs represent between 6 and 8% of the U.S. population
Curious, energetic, adaptable, and creative, ENFPs like considering unconventional approaches. They enjoy batting around ideas and finding creative solutions and are energized and intrigued by new possibilities and anything out of the ordinary. ENFPs tend to be talkative, enthusiastic, playful, and generally fun-loving people. Warm and caring, ENFPs have strong personal values upon which they base most decisions. Conversations with ENFPs can be very circular as they excitedly move from one topic to the next, making connections and associations. Unconventional and occasionally irreverent, they pride themselves on their uniqueness and originality. Optimistic, and spontaneous, ENFPs have a strong sense of the possible. For them, life is an exciting drama. Because they are so interested in possibilities, ENFPs see significance in all things and prefer to keep lots of options open.
Same question
Wow, I have never met another ENFP! :D Technically, I am an xNFP, on the cusp between extraverted and introverted. Unbelievable!

No no, I don't sing very well.
Would you make an effort to become good at singing?
This seems related to another question that singing requires a talent of standing on stage without sweating bullets and shaking uncontrollably, both of which I do not have. I have a high respect for people who can sing well, and it seems a rare talent, but my voice sounds about as dull as Ben Stein.
Even if it cost you your fame, would you admit your faults?
Chava
03-06-2009, 07:54 AM
Absolutely, my faults are all a part of me.
Would you?
I partially asked this question out of remiscience of Michael Phelps, and that whole ridiculous situation. If famous, and asked of my faults, I would admit every one to give the ideal example of honesty, but I would also remark at how absurd the question to ask something entirely unrelated to my fame, unless, of course, I received fame for my blunt honesty.

Never really thought about what makes a bad winner. I can be a good looser as long as I understand that I lost because I was either bettered plain and simple or I know that I didn't do as well as I can on that particular occasion and will kick *** next time.
Do you consider yourself a winner or a loser?

A winner life is what you make it,
Would you change your career mid stream just because you wanted to?
