Apparently, I suffer from the Linux virus. I'm probably a pasive carrier, since I've never used it (yet). I do hate Microsoft though.
Anyway, I admit these ones:
Politics
Environmentalism
British (not the country, but the music)

Even so, anyone who advises me to "Consume more stuff! It's easier to buy new stuff than to recycle" isn't that much worthy of respect.

Hehe they're being ironic, though. Anyone who knows about hotdogs without buns on Fridays (eg. Discordia) isn't going to advise one to consume and give up patchouli. They might say "stop caring!" but not in reference to politics -- most of the Discordians I've met are quite political. (I was a member of "The Cult of Eris" Discordian message board in Junior High. ;))

crisaor
06-24-2004, 02:53 PM
Cult of Eris? I would have never thought that someone would start a cult based on her. Do you know how much problems she caused the ancient world? :argue:

emily655321
06-24-2004, 04:06 PM
LOL yup. It's more like a parody of a cult, celebrating silliness and chaos. Over the years members have created more and more specific (fake) rules and doctrines and songs and symbols to go along with it (like eating hotdogs without buns on Friday, because so many real religions prohibit certain meat, or meat-eating on certain days), but it's all just a game. :thumbs_up :D

crisaor
06-26-2004, 03:25 PM
Are there any other similar cults? (i.e. that "worship" other greek gods)

Ohmigosh! THEY PUT "BOB" IN THERE! ROTFLOL!!! *clicks that one* Church of SubGenius. <3 <3 <3 I love parody religions. Especially that one. Praise "Bob"! :p Down with pinks!

This is what I have:

Pokemon
Pikachu! Use your hyper-electric-get-a-life move now!
(Well, I did grow up in the '90s. XD)

Junkfood
Eat some real food. Something which you can identify the source of every ingredient, not the point of manufacture.
(I...try...to eat healthy foods. Sometimes. :p)

Religion
Read "God's Debris" by Scott Adams (yes, the Dilbert guy)
(But I'm an agnostic! I think it's because I clicked "Bob" and the Menorah and some other stuff.)

Politics
Stop caring!
(But...! I like being interested in politics. I need to know what's going on.)

Brand Names
Having a well-known name doesn't make it good.
(OKAY THIS IS NOT MY FAULT!!! This stuff is jammed into my brain even though I don't want it there! D: )

Hippyism
Free love is passe and potentially dangerous, and patchouli smells like cat piss.
(Whaaaaaa? D: Peace is good! But I know the world's limits. We can't love everybody. Wars are sometimes necessary, I'm afraid.)

Environmentalism
Consume more stuff! It's easier to buy new stuff than to recycle.
(SHUT UP. It may be easier, but it hurts! *is a really ardent environmentalist*)

Viruses you might suffer from:

Linux (80%)
Install the latest version of Microsoft Windows. Learn to love it.

USA (70%)
Rule, Britannia! Britannia rule the waves! [repeat]
(NUH-UH. I love the U.S.A. <3 But I must admit I am a bit of an Anglophile.)

Amiga (90%)
Gnome is better than workbench. BEOS is better than Amiga OS. The TV Modulator was a pain in the arse and an EXTERNAL power pack? I ask you. And it didn't have a built in MIDI port like some of its rivals.

Japan (90%)
Big is good. Small is bad. Giant robots would not make a good last line of defence for Earth.
(Hahahaha.)

Discordia (60%)
Buy a suit. Invest your money. Eat hotdog buns on a friday.
(Hahahaha. That is weird. Didn't think I'd get this one. I bet it had something to do with clicking on "Bob" again.)

Computer Games (60%)
Stop staring at the screen and get some fresh air. You should see a doctor about the RSI in your thumbs.
(NO. *hisses*)

Conspiracy Theory (95%)
Face it, the elected government is in control. Actually that's quite scary.
(They are. :( QUESTION AUTHORITY. Especially now!)

Macintosh (80%)
Use a mouse with more than one button.
(But...I do! D: I don't have a Mac...but I kinda want one to be honest. :D )

...I took it again and got Sci-fi. "Stop wearing the stick-on ears". I'm not THAT kind of a sci-fi nerd. Got British, too. :D "No need for cure. Benign virus." Obviously a very biased test.

Viruses you suffer from:

Junkfood
Eat some real food. Something which you can identify the source of every ingredient, not the point of manufacture.

(actually I don't suffer from this. I happen to try to eat organically but it is very expensive and nearly impossible unless you shop at an organic grocery store because most every product in a typical grocery store, such as Kroger, including bread and excluding fresh meat, vegetables and some dairy, contains high-fructose corn syrup). I know the McDonalds and KFC symbol because I live in America and we have one of these in most every area that contains a store of any sort)

Viruses you might suffer from:

Brand Names (65%)
Having a well-known name doesn't make it good.
(again, I am from America and from a very early age, I was indoctrinated with the belief that name-brands do in fact mean something, even though I buy generic whenever possible, and I think it's stupid to pay more than about 20 bucks for a purse. You won't see me carrying a purse that says "Coach" or "Dooney and Burke" or whatever. And I do go to malls, and that's why I know these brands exist, but I only go to the mall to get haircuts and to get lotion at the Bath and Body Works Sale. So There)

No need for cure. Benign virus.

Cars (75%)
There just hunks of metal which go real fast. Ride a bike through London at rush hour.

I was actually surprised by brand names. I don't own much of anything brand named and I could care about it even less. I think it has something to do with all the brand research for my school.

Stop staring at the screen and get some fresh air. You should see a doctor about the RSI in your thumbs.
