It’s just an old brown fedora, I only bought it because
I thought it cool.
Its starting to get a bit ragged, sweat stained
and God forbid, moldy?
I say don’t clean it, that would surely be bad luck.
I'll just keep it as it is.
It hangs on the wall ready for its next adventure
mostly to a nearby stream.
It’s a great place to stick some bugs, shade the sun,
or protect you from the rain.
But more importantly it’s like an old friend,
unconditional and priceless.

Nice! The poem grips the sentiment that we all place on something we have in our life -- I particularly liked the phrase about 'bad luck' (you have captured my exact thought). :) Kizzo

Oh, I love this! My husband used to threaten me if I would even THINK about washing his hats. Thank you for the sweet memory.
