No women will become what is it called an animale that is both female and male and produce sperm as well as ovaries and just get pregnant like that. Course that would make contraception very difficult if it was all happening like digestion with you not aware of it.

I'm thinking this is sort of a conspiricy...:D

But I suppose it is possible, there has been cases of testiculair feminiazation in fish in the St. Laurence river due to human hormone pollution (through the sewage system to to various medical products)...so I suppose the opposit could be possible...I just don't know if it would be viable with out serious genetic modification.

You wouldnt be refering to something similar to this would you?

1. Walking Abortion

n. A derogatory term for a male.

Originates from Feminazi Valerie Solanos’ SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men) Manifesto.

The male is a biological accident: the Y (male) gene is an incomplete X (female) gene, that is, it has an incomplete set of chromosomes. In other words, the male is an incomplete female, a walking abortion, aborted at the gene stage. To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.

Lol, I know you probably meant your post to be facetious, Kilted, but I am going to ramble on about it anyway. Ms Solanos was apparently not one to let simple biological facts stand in the way of a "good" slogan...(I think she has passed away also)

Once in a while I don't like men either (I have anger issues) but that statement is just nonsensical. There is nothing in biology that states that the Y chromosome is "incomplete".

The sex is determined by the chromosomes of the male sperm cell,
at the time of conception. However, development of a
fertilized egg is the same for male and female, until
at a certain stage, due to the genes on the
Y-chromosome, male fetuses start to produce substances
that change the development to follow the 'male'
course.

In fact, you are hitting a difference in 'genotype'
versus 'phenotype' here. The fertilized egg has the
genotype of male or female, but the phenotype (the
'form' you see) is not yet apparent. The difference
between genotype and phenotype is crucial in biology
but it is often ignored. You have just identified a
beautiful example.
-------------
sex is determined genetically at conception
by the inheritance of either two X chromosomes (female) or an X and a Y
(male). The expression of the sex characteristics doesn't begin until about
6 weeks gestation. Before that time the fetus is not really male or female,
but non-specific. The fetus has two non-specific gonads and two sets of
tubes. If the fetus has a Y chromosome, at 6 weeks a gene called the SRY
(sex determining region of the Y) turns on. This gene causes the
degeneration of the female characters and causes the male characters to
develop. It causes the non-specific gonads to become testes and the tubes to
become the vas deferens. Once the testes are mature enough another gene
turns on to start producing testosterone. This causes the internal sex
organs to develop. Part of the testosterone turns into another hormone which
then causes the external sex organs to develop. If the Y chromosome isn't
present the female pattern of development occurs; the female pattern is the
default pattern so-to-speak. The gonads become ovaries and the tubes become
fallopian tubes. So even though the gene for maleness is inherited at
conception, the expression of the trait doesn't begin until about 6 weeks after conception

Actually I believe that the "feminisation of testes" is a phenomenon found in many amphibians at the moment. Also saw a show on the alligators of the everglades where something similar is occuring. This is believed to be the result of pollution of certain toxic chemicals (usually having a long half life). Animals that are higher up the food chain tend to accumulate these chemicals storing them in their fat cells. The chemicals are very similar in chemical make up to testosterone, and then occupy the testosterone receptors. A similar situation arises in mammals that eat soy. A sheep herder noticed that the flocks that grazed on soy produced less offspring, the females were more prevalent, and all of the offspring were less productive when mating. This is a theory, and while some scientists disagree it does have some merit.

We could always develop a really giant sperm bank to last for centuries and send all men to a different planet....just a thought. :p

harsh.......

oops, sorry, I meant hypothesis/ theory, not thesis :)

i heard only men were becoming extinct, but somehow humanity would survive... i can't see how this is supposed to work, though
some incects or thingies can reproduce by giving birth to clones of themselves.. like the young will be an exact genetic copy of the mother. i think the theory i read about says women will develop this ability

asexual reproduction....unlikely as it is a genetic trait of less developed species...as we are more developed as a species our potential for adaptation is much higher and our ability to reproduce through asexual reproduction deminishes

We wont need to they be extinct althou maybe a giant sperm bank is a good idea because then thier would still be boys being born ...

wouldn't that defeat the purpose of jetting us off onto another planet...
about the signs at the end....I dont know...i could ask my sister she's more of a bible thumper....but I wouldn't worry about it as the bible also says no one will know when the end is coming.....so signs or not no one will be waiting for it and have it marked on a calender...

no it wasnt well said which was what was wrong withit. Say You have a box of balls. The box of balls isnt complete without all the balls . but a single ball from the box is complete of itself. ( right before I do this no offense meant!)

But if eve was made from a rib then a complete thing was made from somthing that while complete in its self( not half a rib, or any other part of the rib But THE rib) was part of somthing else. But poor old adam lost rib in the process so he is missing somthing, that eve isnt because she didnt actually lose anything.

Errr...in case you're planning to cruise round in that one, do put my jar on the back seat, will you ? It looks like being made for crashing into something because of excess of speed, and I don't want to see that coming through the front shield. Thanks :D

The advantage to it is that it is surprisingly gas efficent. I could get a matching little sidecar for it and then we could have a grand old time driving around. Sidecars are usually for motorcyles, but what the heck.

More men than women take teddy bears to bed when sleeping alone, it is claimed.

According to a new study, some 20% of men admitted to cuddling a teddy, compared to 15% of women.

Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 63% said they needed a bedtime cuddle to sleep.

Eight percent of women admitted spraying their pillow or nightclothes with their partner's aftershave when away from home on their own.

But only 3% of men resorted to using their partner's perfume to offset loneliness.

Nearly three in five people felt lonely sleeping without their partner, while 16% found it difficult to get to sleep and 9% felt scared.

The survey revealed actress Angelina Jolie was the person men would most like to cuddle up with.

Women opted for Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp.

The study was commissioned by hotel chain Travelodge which says it is now piloting a 'Cuddillow'.

This is a cuddling pillow which is two-and-a-half feet long and has two arms for guests to snuggle into.http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91059-1255722,00.html

The danger of opening a "single gender" thread is that we'll "let our hair down" a bit and get caught doing so :D . I don't think any guy on this thread over the age of 30 is "fooled" by beauty anymore (at least I hope so); I, personally, know that beauty can often hide the most empty and vacuous of female minds, and that such emptiness wears very thin, very quickly. Personality and attitude go a long way in providing "sexiness" - that I know and believe. BUT: there is no denying that feminine beauty is very, very powerful to a male - but "powerful" does not equal "valuable" or "meaningful." For example, I can easily get slack-jawed looking at some of today's female celebs - but settle down with one and make a relationship? Nah - I can't see that. The teenager thinks that the beauty is the woman; the mature man knows that the beauty is only the first "layer" of that woman, and that what lies beneath will either enhance that first layer, or make it totally meaningless.

(OK boys - where were we?)

Right - so maybe we should shift the topic from what part of a woman is most attractive to what about a woman besides her body creates the impression of "sexiness"? Are there certain mannerisms, gestures, tones, expressions, ways of dressing or behaving that produce such an effect?

(We are free, of course, to degenerate back to the treasures of the female body at anytime though, being guys like we are. Maybe the girls won't notice? :D )

Right - and I agree. But I'm talking about things she does that you find sexy more than her conscious attempt to be so. As well, I'm talking about those things that "speak" to you before you ever get a chance (if any) to know what her heart is like. "Charm" is pointing in the general direction, but are there specific things she might do or say that create the impression of "charm" or "sexiness" or whatever you'd like to call it?

Excellent!! Yes. "Enjoying their femininity" or put another way confident in their womanhood. I'm not sure I would agree about the touching though. I think that transforms the conversation, at least in my mind. I think the suggestion would be so sexual that I would be paralyzed.

Red, what you said about women enjoying their femininity - when they appear to really like being a girl and enjoying "girly" things ...... is so sweet and it's a shame most of us sometimes forget or avoid for some reason being feminine.....:(

I think (and this is very much my opinion, though I've heard other writers voice it as well) that men become more masculine in the presence of a "feminine" woman. Some of the comments I made in the "Will feminism replace patriarchy?" thread were meant in this vein - that women who like being women - who like pretty, lacy things - who like things like nail polish and earrings and such - are very, very attractive (and this has little if anything to do with their actual looks - it has to do with their joy at being a girl). I think many women are disappointed in how men act these days - but I wonder if part of our "wimpiness" isn't due to the fact that many women attempt to be "masculine" (i.e. "I don't need a man - I'm self-sufficient") when, in reality, the woman who "needs" a man is very, very attractive to a man - it brings out our protective "white knight" nature. Anyway... thank you.

Well, I mean when the touching is clearly how this person relates to all people - male or female - and it's fairly obvious that it's not meant in a sexual way. It just really works for me - like it says "I like physical contact" - and sexual or not, that's always sexy in a woman ;)

Good points Brigitte. I checked the girls thread and they were talking about how to paint their toe nails.  I don't mind if you join in our conversation. :) The girls over there get into a hissy fit if any of the guys barge in. :p
Well, I think the pedicure talk was in the "Girl Chat" thread and the shoe talk was in the "Anyone for coffee, no boys allowed" thread. Hissy fits? I think that was just Opti. ;) You are welcome to join the conversation (but Niamh will make you put on a wig first....) :p

Anyway... thank you.

Indeed women are disappointed in how man act nowadays but i think it's a valid theory the other way around also...... and both sexes are to blame, that's for sure.

Women have been working on developing the masculine side sometimes at the expense of the feminine side, and this 'liberation' has placed men in the role of the enemy, and this has prevented many women from using their feminine side in interacting with men. That's where i believe we went wrong. Although i hate generalisations.....

I think the 'I don't need a man - I'm self-sufficient' theory is just a cover up or a myth ..... although it's definetly better being alone than in a bad relationship.

And just like you said about men being more 'masculine' in the presence of a 'feminine' woman, it does work the other way around, the sad thing is that although we seem to want the same things, there are not so many good examples out there...... not so many happy ' accidents'.

Im 50 years old, yea I know I'm old. But I must say that my opinion of what makes a woman beautiful or sexy has changed over the years. As a teenager it was very superficial and over the years it has morphed to something that still amazes me to this moment. Confidence, freckles, a woman that puts her children first, no make up natural beauty, a woman that likes being a woman, caring.

I also posted in the "feminism" thread that supposing that feminists don't like being women or don't find joy in womanhood (or being a girl, whichever) goes against the whole idea of what feminism really should be about...that there is nothing intrinsically wrong with being female...that being female doesn't have to be "fixed" by acting like a man. Wanting equality is not the same as wanting to change one's gender. If a Black person wishes to be treated equally, would you tell them they just want to be white? Yes, poor analogy, I know. Still, people are discriminated against because of their race and also their sex.

I think there are certain ideas (misconceptions) that people still hold about feminism, so despite whatever I say...it doesn't matter. I am a feminist...I don't hate men...I don't want to be a man...I like jewelry, shoes, lipgloss and my favorite color is pink! For real!

Self sufficiency is an adult quality....as in the ability to take care of oneself. Wanting or needing a man should be seperate from that...for romance, companionship, and so on. Isn't that why men need women? Or do men not need women?

Although i hate generalisations.....

I appreciate your thoughts. Yes, women should be able to take care of themselves - but sometimes I think they forget that its OK to "need" their man - because as much as a woman likes to be told that she's beautiful and that she's loved, a man likes to hear that he's needed, that he's important. That's all I'm saying. A man who said "What do you mean? I married you so I must love you and think you're beautiful! Why do I need to say so all the time?" to a woman would not be looked upon kindly (even if what he's saying is true). Do you see what I mean? I think sometimes both men and women forget how much these little things mean. We like to feel needed, respected and admired just like women like to feel beautiful, desired, loved.

Ok, I understand better about this. I think people in general sometimes take their loved ones for granted....in the sense that there may be the tendency to not always take the time to say "thank you", or "I am glad you are here for me." Often social graces are left to the people folks work with or see out in the world, but it is equally as important to treat loved ones with just as much courtesy as "outsiders".

I have been reminding myself of that very thing, actually. My boyfriend helped me with a situation I had been struggling with and I made sure to let him know I appreciated his help....that sometimes I need help and I was very glad he was there for me.

Just mix enough water with yoghurt (you can use half-fat yoghurt too) and out enough salt. That's all. Mix it really good. And it's perfect with especially meat foods or you can drink it plain. Much healthier than coke.

That sounds cool!!

Turk

Just put 2-3 spoonful yoghurt into apot full of 2-3 liter milk (it should be boiled natural milk). Close the top of the pot (or saucepan). Wrap few clothes to keep the fermented milk warm enough. A day later it will be really good tasting yoghurt.

It is a yoghurt based drink common to India/Pakistan & Indian Restaurants throughout the world. Comes as either sweet or salty.

Jamaica water?? What is it?

ok, according to my Mum there's this flower/plant called Flor de Jamaica (jamaica flower), you boil 'till the waters red and hot, then you let it rest. You can drink it with or whitiout sugar. It's Tasty AND healthy.

Yeah, it's very old Turkish drink and Turks established and governed states and empires in India and Pakistan (there wasn't a place named Pakistan in past actually) so it's possible they have same drink. Though we don't make sweet ayran, that would be disgusting.

Horchata, it sounds cooler.:D

INGREDIENTS
1 cup long grain rice...the white kind, not brown.
2 quarts water
1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup white sugar

Pretty much you mix rice, H2O and cinnamon in a saucepan. Then you leave it alone, off of the stove for awhile, I'd say like 2-3 hrs. then you boil it and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Then you blend it and strain it. Let it get cool though, before you drink...oh, before you drink, put in sugar and vanilla(if you want), I just said 1/2 cup but it really depends on how sweet you want it. I don't really put that much.

I sound weird if i say it, I tend to over-pronounce my Rs so It would soud something like "orrrrchsahtah"

I like to drink something my dad invented and I named Tretonaia.

Spanish speakers just think I'm weird, since Cubans don't pronounce that much their Rs and Ss. While a normal cuban would say "rohses" really fast I would say "rouwhssssesss" and end with a hiss.

I can't help myself. But it really helps me with my Russian, I sound like a natural!!

for agua fresca(Fresh water) just pick a fruit and blend it with the following:

1 large cantaloupe or half a watermelon, seeded and diced (about 3 cups)
1 1/2 cups water
2 to 4 tablespoons sugar
2 to 3 limes, juiced

Even if you weigh 220 pounds, I'm impressed. When I was about 17 or 18 I was able (but just barely) to bench press 225 pounds, the most I ever did. But I only weighed 150 pounds or so at the time.

Just in case I'm not the only player/fan of AMERICAN football here, let's see if we can start up a debate: which defense is better, 3-4 or 4-3?

Alternately, who was better... Muhammad Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson? Normally this would be a wash, but I read a Bert Sugar book in which he named Robinson the best of all time.

I have the unique bias of being born in Pittsburgh and living in New England, so 3-4 all the way. It's so versatile, the blitz is almost always coming, but hard to pinpoint... Plus, you just need three oversize D-lineman and maybe 1-2 fast linebackers to have an effective pass rush.

Mike Tyson was undoubtedly the most POWERFUL boxer of all time, but after losing to Buster Douglas, the mystique and aura of invincibility were gone. He had a stretch of dominance that was unrivaled, though.

Personally, my vote is for Ali. He was not only a puncher, not only a boxer, not only a showman, not only a strategist, he was a vocal, outspoken man... Even if I don't agree with his ideas, I can respect that (to a point).
