They say,
It only takes a spark to get a fire going.
Well, the spark was there and it grew and it grew.
I longed to be one with the flame so I fanned that spark
with every part of my being.
But STOP!
I remembered I should not play with fire.
I stumbled over myself and fell full upon the fire,
Smothering it.
I stood up and brushed myself off
and began fanning from afar.
When I realized what I had done, I cried out and
fell upon my knees and thrust my hands into the ashes,
hoping, begging, praying to get burned by the spark
I hoped was still there.
But the fire had gone cold.
The ashes streaked across my face where I tried
to wipe away my tears.
I rolled upon the ground in anguish, wishing I had the chance
to do it all over again.
To be better.
To get it right.
