How does Iran tie into all this?

She's from Esfahan. If there's no Esfahan in California it must be Iran.

Anything by Tamora Piece, Sarah Dessen, or Gregory Maguire... Great and Terrible Beauty and Rebel Angels by Libba Bray ( and the soon to be new book December! ^_^) Twilight and New Moon by Stephanie Meyer (and Eclipse when it comes out in August ^_^) The Princess Bride, Anthing in the Once Upon a Time is Timeless (I'm a sucker for fairy tale spinoffs) and anything written by T.A.Barron (particularly the Lost years of Merlin series)

OH! I loved Hairstyles of the Damned. Great book, but I didn't like the other one he wrote...the Detective one.

Lolita is a banned book in Iran.

Why? The Perks of Being a Wallflower is really good...also His Dark Materials by P. Pullman is good.

Start by reading Steinbeck and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Easy, captivating, and, at the same time, two of the sacred monsters of world litterature.
It's never too late to begin reading!
